What to do in northern NJ?

We will have time to kill this Sunday afternoon. Looking for things to do between Princeton and Newark, New Jersey. Unique sights, nature stuff, events, anything goes. Also, any suggestions for comfortable, quiet places to rest?

Best resources for cheap flexible last-minute travel?

Which resources should I be using to find high-value/low-cost flights/hotels if I don't have a particular destination in mind? Looking to take a short trip from NYC for a couple of days next week and go someplace new or different (to me). Do airlines have last-minute just fill some seat deals for those of us who don't travel enough to have any status? Do you have specific ideas for easy and inexpensive escapes from NYC at the end of October?

Advice for attending a Hillary rally?

My main question is- if I take a day off work and go all the way up to NH on Monday, what are the chances that I'll actually get into the Clinton/Warren rally? If anyone has been to a Clinton rally recently, how early do I have to line up for a good chance at getting in? If I bring my 6 year old will it be a miserable experience for both of us?

Dealing with mental health issues as a nomad

I lead, and love leading, a pretty nomadic lifestyle. I do seasonal, travel based work interspersed with backpacking around the world. I am told constantly I lead a dream lifestyle. I love it, and am proud of what I have created. However, it's also becoming clear to me that something is not ok with my current mental health situation (more details below). My lifestyle is 1) interfering with my ability to get help and 2) possibly aggravating it. How can I keep the life I love and still get help? [more inside]

Practical gift ideas to positively improve a friend’s life and hobbies

I am trying to brainstorm some ideas of small gifts for a friend’s birthday. I like to give gifts that are practical and can in some small way be useful for people’s lives; not just sit in a box or closet. As an example I have given other friends who really like live music Etymotic Ear Plugs or other friends who like to bake the Cook’s Illustrated Baking Book. Ideas for services are also cool. Halloween in New Orleans

Mrs COD and myself will be arriving in town on the 30th, and leaving on the 3rd. It looks like we will miss the parades and most if not all of the pre-31st activities. So what shouldn't we miss on Halloween itself, and what restaurants / museums, etc. should be put on our itinerary? I've been to N.O. once, for DrupalCon earlier this year. I was busy with the 'Con and saw little beyond getting to Frenchman's Street one night for some blues. WWII Museum is on my list. Beyond that - looking for ideas.

How can I now see a map of all my Tripadvisor Saves?

Prior to the new update of the Tripadvisor app, I could open a saved location, zoom out, and then see the saved locations nearby. The new update destroyed this functionality. Is there any way for me to access a map of my saved locations? I like to plan a route among proximate sites, and I don't know how to do this.

Let's Talk Turkey

Help! Back in the early months of this year I concluded that I was going to need to be somewhere outside of the U.S. as we headed into the last few weeks of the election. I had an airline voucher that needed to be used and I'd wanted to visit Turkey ever since taking a class in the history of the eastern Mediterranean region in university, and so I booked myself tickets to Istanbul with two weeks to spend between my arrival and departure (the last week of October and the first week of November.)
