4 stars, 2 bills: The hotel is the destination.
A friend of mine has a hotel fetish. Given that the cost of a room also depends on the city and taxes, is there a "fancy" hotel or B&B in the Northeast with a remarkable amount of bang for buck?
Goal is <200/night.

A friend and I will be taking a road trip between New York City and Ann Arbor via the Great Lakes this summer. We're mostly planning to camp, and do things on the cheap. But he's offered to splurge for a hotel for a night on one condition: the hotel be a garish Liberace-styled rococo nightmare.

I've never worked in any hospitality industry, so I'm just wondering as a casual consumer/observer. How come people are supposed to tip their valets and bellhops at hotels, and they are always only men while there's no rule that you tip the housekeeping, and they are always female?

Best luxury hotels in Fort Worth, Texas? The title says it all - I'm looking for someplace amazing to stay for one or two nights in Fort Worth, TX. My gentleman is looking forward to a concert that's happening there and I'd like to surprise him with a killer package at a luxury hotel the weekend of the show. Bonus points if the hotel is funky and non-chain (a la
Hotel San Jose or
Hotel Saint Cecilia in Austin), although I'd do a chain if it was absolutely top-notch.

Mrs. COD and myself are headed to VA Beach this weekend, and my efforts to secure a nice hotel cheap via Hotwire / Priceline have not panned out. We are visiting with friends on Chick's beach, so staying somewhere around the Norfolk Airport keeps us within 15 minutes of their place, which is fine. Has anybody stayed at a Norfolk Airport hotel recently? The reviews on the travel sites are kind of scary, but I'm hoping it's just Internet trolling and it's not really that bad. Cheap is good - we just need a place to crash Saturday night. Any recommendations from recent personal experience?

Help me pack in a nice 3 day weekend in DFW with my wife. I've got Rangers tickets for Sunday's game 5/29. I think I want to stay at a Hilton with a nice pool situation. (I've got a boatload of points, so can likely stay at deep discount) I want to do a 5 mile run somewhere scenic on Saturday and maybe Monday morning. Other than that, I love to eat, drink, and spend money.

I need a hotel or a resort, a very special resort. Within a 5 hour drive of Seattle (but not on the ocean itself -- we're going there later in the summer), a big comfortable lobby/lounge to play games, read, talk. Something nice outside, but really, in the Pacific Northwest, that's pretty much a given. Old and funky is fine, new and posh also fine. I'm looking for something memorable.

When you have only 3 days, what would be the best plan of attack?

We're going to be visiting Boston for a few days, starting tomorrow (Sunday). We'd like to avoid traffic and parking issues by staying in the outskirts and taking mass-transit into downtown to see the sights.
We're looking for a hotel or motel that is pleasant, clean and fairly inexpensive (less than $125/night IF possible). Any recommendations?

I'm moving from Boston to Cincinnati in a few weeks, and am doing the drive to OH on my own. I'd like to stop halfway through and stay the night - someplace not expensive, but hopefully someplace nice (to help cushion the blow of leaving 'home' for good). However, Travelocity et. al. are just giving me HoJos, Holiday Inns, etc, all for quite a bit of money per night and generally with questionable cleanliness. It seems logical to get off the highway to find a place that's not going to rip me off - but how do I find a nice, clean, mostly inexpensive place while knowing nothing about the area I'm hoping to stop (Rochester/Buffalo/Erie, PA)? Can you help?
