Emergency England travel advice. My sister is very sick and I need to get to England as soon as possible. I am in Nashville, TN USA. Where can I get the cheapest plane tickets? Do I need to clear cookies from my browser every time I search, or is there a site that is best? If I fly into Heathrow are there trains to Brighton? I will have my infant with me also. Any advice welcome.
I will possibly be in London in August, and would like to take the time to not only see Oxford, but to spend a day or two in a smaller, more peaceful town or village. What are my best options? [more inside]
We've got 6 days, a car, and an unlimited appetite for adventure and beauty. Where should we visit if we're bumming around in the area/countryside between London and Cornwall? Open to suggestions for delicious places to eat and lovely places to stay as well.
I'm taking a last-minute trip to Europe in a few weeks and will be flying into and out of Berlin. I'll only be there for 9 days, so it's a pretty quick trip, but I'll be hitting Munich and London while I'm there. Do you have any great suggestions for these cities? Some extra details inside. We want to travel by car around Northern England and Scotland just after the new year (Jan 8-16) for a vacation/holiday. Where should we go given the Xmas/NY/Hogmanay holidays are just finished and weather might be…changable? One Brit, One American, mid 40s, likes culture, nature, art, off-the-wall stuff. [more inside]
My S.O. and I are traveling to England next month for ten days (Oct 16-26). What should we do? [more inside]
I escaped a long-term abusive marriage homeless with a lot of hermit like attributes. It's been about three years of clawing and crawling out of that hole, and while I'm not completely out, I do have an apartment, job, friends, and enough money to feed me and my kid three squares a day. That deserves a celebration and I'm determined that I'm going to spend a long weekend with my best friend in London in December as a combo birthday/holiday gift to myself. I want to see Hyde Park done up for the holidays, do a Jack the Ripper tour, eat in a pub, and visit a museum [more inside]
I'm returning home to England for a visit next month and I haven't been home since 2011. Please help me prepare properly. [more inside]
I'll be in London for a party & wedding over two weekends, and need ideas for domestic travel during the week in between, and the few days after. I've been to UK before, but all i've really seen is central london, Oxford, and Stonehenge. (i'll be clearer about my schedule and needs after the jump!) [more inside]

Thoughts on our New England itinerary? Drive Pittsburgh to Boston then up to Salem, Gloucester, Rockport, Portsmouth (I saw the great thread on the kid trips centered around Portsmouth), Portland, Acadia National Park and back bypassing Boston on the return. [more inside]
My extremely-uncommon and forever-mispelled last name—Huxham—happens to also be the name of a tiny village right outside of Exeter in SW England. My ancestors left Britain from the port of Plymouth on the other side of Devonshire, so I feel fairly confident this might be where my last name comes from. However, even though I have the means and the desire to visit this hamlet…what do I do there? Just start knocking on doors? Should I contact the parish priest and/or tourism board? [more inside]
I'm like every other post-college twentysomething in lots of ways: I make too little money, watch too much Netflix and indulge in an existential crisis oh, about once an hour. Also, like many in my cohort, I love the idea of packing up a ratty old duffel bag and heading off to some far corner of the world to taste, see and do all I can, while maybe giving myself either a leg to stand on once I return to the job market here or the warm-n-fuzzies that come from volunteering and/or service learning. All pretty standard fare. Here comes the doozy of snowflake: I'm in a wheelchair and have certain difficulties with speech fluency, owing to my CP and spastic diplegia diagnosis. Try as I might, I can't get myself to give up on the dream of spending a year or more abroad, even with all this in my way. Help me get there, oh beautiful hivemind? [more inside]
We are a married couple with one child who is old enough to require their own room. If we're leaving from the midwest of the US, and plan to stay for two to three weeks, is $9k USD a realistic rough estimate of the amount we ought to budget for the trip? [more inside]

Hi all, So my UK Lloyds regular bank account was suspended while I was in the USA and now they want me to show up in a local branch. I have spent three days on the phone explaining to them that I cannot because I am in the USA at the moment. They insist that I do and until then all my funds are frozen! Nightmare! It looks like I will have to fly home just to show my face at the branch so I can access my funds. Anyone had anything like this? Do I really have to fly back to the UK just to ID myself? Thank you!
I am an AT&T Customer with an iPhone 5. I am traveling to London, Paris, and Dusseldorf this summer and don't want to get killed with international data and cell charges. Plus I want good apps for translation, maps, etc. What's the best way to do this, and would I be better or worse off with an Android phone (Galaxy S4 or HTC One)? Any first-hand experience would be awesome. [more inside]
I'm going to Chaudes-Aigues (France) in early July and I currently live in England (York). What are my (best) options for getting there? Would like to fly out of Manchester if at all possible, but I'm having a hard time figuring out what airlines and airports I should be looking into at the France end and how feasible train/bus travel is to/from places there. Thanks! [more inside]

My wife and I are going to Norwich next weekend. We'll spend four days there. What should we do? Challenge: we'll have our small dog, but she can stay in our hotel room for a few hours, while we tour stuff. We just can't go too far out that we'd have to leave her all day. [more inside]

I'll be traveling in Scotland and England for a couple of weeks in February, mostly by bus. I'm an inveterate iPhone user, always tweeting, checking-in, posting photos and so on ... but I know that route will lead to financial madness. So what's best to do? I know I can jailbreak, unlock my iPhone, perhaps use another SIM card while traveling, but is the effort worth doing? Is it better to leave the iPhone at home in the US and grab a pay-go smartphone upon arrival in Edinburgh (and if so, how best)? Or do I bring the iPhone and use it via wifi only, hoping I don't slip and fall into a welcoming bit of 3G along the way?
My son, a soccer player and avid Manchester City and Manchester United fan, is turning 17 on the date of the Man City vs Man United match (April 28th, 2012). Since we were considering a trip to Europe next year, the stars all seemed to be in alignment for us to schedule our visit around his birthday. I wrote to inquire about tickets for the match. In return, I received a lovely reply...but I don't understand it! Please hope me. [more inside]

Everton FC hosts the Queen's Park Rangers on August 20th. I would like to see this match, and am willing to pay for a good seat. What's the best way for an American to buy a single ticket? Can I just show up at Goodison Park on the day of the match? Should I order a ticket in advance and have it shipped to the U.S.? Buy a ticket once I reach England in mid August?
I will be in London on business in late April, and would like to see at least one play or musical while I'm there. Can you please recommend a good (or critically-acclaimed) play or musical, or a website where I can find recommendations? I'll be there alone and will be looking for individual tickets - is it likely I'll be able to get singles for sold-out shows on the day of? Thanks for your help!

In a couple of weeks I will be traveling from the USA to England and would like to use my iPhone 3G while I am there. I would like to purchase a sim card from three.co.uk because that's the network all my family (who live in the UK) use. Am I correct in assuming that I'll need to jailbreak first before I can use a different sim card? [more inside]
