My brother is turning 60 in late November, so we want to do a family dinner out. There will be 3 siblings and spouses, 4 teens 15-19, one a vegetarian, and our mother. She's 89 years old, with very limited mobility. (walker with help, but no wheelchair) [more inside]
I want to have a series of conversations next week in a quiet restaurant (no loud music or background noise) which has at least a couple of decent vegan options on the menu. I'm hoping for something in the St. Lawrence area of Toronto, or, failing that, Corktown or downtown would be good. The group would be 3-5 people. Someplace with entrees under $30; $10-15 entrees best. Any suggestions?

Can someone recommend a nice restaurant in Toronto for my mom (age 60) and her friends? A group of about eight of them are going to the Second City show tomorrow night, and my mom wasn't sure where they should eat. They're looking for something near King St. (the theatre is on Mercer St.) that has a nice/classy atmosphere but won't be too fancy, as they won't be dressed up. In terms of type of food, they're not too adventurous, but would probably prefer something nicer than pub food, and not too meat-focused, as one friend is vegetarian. (Maybe an Italian place?) toronto dining: a friend of mine is leaving toronto for a job in spain and is getting some friends together for dinner. she's looking for a nice restaurant, not terrifically expensive since everyone's a student, ideally a mellow sort of place with a patio or outdoors seating, and by the lake or at least with a nice view. or at least somewhere with that kind of casual summery atmosphere. got any suggestions?
