I'm looking to start an LLC in the near future (as I'd like to start doing web development as a part-time business beyond my day job); considering that my taxes are about to get a bit more complicated, I'd like to find a decent small-business accountant in the Chicago area. I work full-time and my wife and I both have sole proprietorships. I'd like to engage a financial advisor to look over our tax planning. Our situation doesn't change much year to year, so I'm envisioning just a one-time thing to see if we're missing any opportunities. Our estate plan and investments are already in good order. Do I want an accountant? A tax preparer? Financial planner? Any tips for finding a good one? Thanks.

My 2006 taxes are going to be complicated, for me at least. I had one full time job, and a ton of freelance gigs. I don't think I'll be able to muddle thru TurboTax like I have in past years. So, is H&R Block a good deal or should I find a "real" accountant? [more inside]

My wife and I are probably going to have a complicated 1040 this year. I've found plenty of places that list licenced accountants, but no clear idea how to judge one from another. Does anybody have personal reccomendations or ideas of what to look out for?
