I'm trying to remember an HBO series that was mentioned on AskMe recently. It lasted for only one season, and had to do with romantic relationships and marriages (I think) and was a character-study sort of show. Help?

I am very much enjoying HBO's In Treatment. I was amazed by the number of episodes in each season and then learned it was originally broadcast daily on week nights. How was this managed in terms of filming, cast availability etc.? Was it filmed entirely ahead of broadcast, as I understand HBO series tend to be? it seems unmanageable and risky otherwise.

Game of Thrones: I haven't read the book, but I've been watching the HBO t.v. series. Do the long winters occur only on the Westeros continent? Or is it assumed that the long winters impact both Essos and Westeros, and/or is the result of some global phenomenon?
