Wall<>Cable Modem = Good. Wall<>Splitter<>Cable Modem + TV = Intermittent failures where the modem goes off line. What can I do to improve this? Is there such thing as a lower power splitter? Better cables? And did my cable company make a mistake? More details below!>>>

One of the longest-running modern-day battles is that of Cable vs. Dish Network. Both seem to basically offer the same stuff. Most everything I read says Dish Network offers everything Cable does, except it's cheaper. Which is better and why? Does Dish Network really go out when it rains or is cloudy? Do you have experience with both and a compelling reason for one over the other? Thanks in advance.

Is broadcast TV supposed to come in over coax when you're not paying for it? (or is it not actually coming over coax in the first place?)

A friend's got a Samsung LED TV which has two input jacks (appears to be the "3.5mm" type) for Component signal - 1 socket for video (red, green, blue) and 1 for audio (red, white). Problem is: where do I find these cable adapters so we can connect (5) component cables into these (2) input jacks?

I am interested in alternatives to traditional cable/satellite television. We only have one really bad cable provider in the area that I do not want to get cable from. Satellite TV is not what I want either for a variety of reasons. Netflix, iTunes and Amazon TV don't offer the shows I am interested in like Discovery Channel, MTV, Nickelodeon, Nick at Nite, news channels, etc. Is there a way to stream this kind of programming from the internet? I am willing to pay for the service but I cannot find anywhere legitimate to get something like this from. Thanks

Can anyone recommend a good, inexpensive English-Spanish lexicon of TV/Cable/Broadcast technology terms? My sister does Spanish-language technical support for a large TV cable and Internet provider. She's first-language fluent in Spanish, but like many Spanish-speaking U.S. natives, leans heavily on Spanglish for many of the neologisms ("el remote") of the electronic age.

We bought an used Insignia TV and hooked it up to our comcast cable box. Unfortunately, we can get a picture but it is only in black and white. I've taken the cables in the back and moved them around and the only result I can get is in one of the inputs there is a small amount of color that shows on the screen that correlates to sound vibrations. I've used the remote to turn up the color and it has no effect. What can I do to fix this?

When I pulled out one of the component cables from my TV today,
this thing came with it. I can see by the jack left in the TV that probably all I need to do is gently push it back in, but given that the 2 flanges on the thing are different, and I think it's an electrical contact, I'm pretty sure there's one right way for it to go, and one wrong. I'm hoping for some guidance on which is which.

Hello. I have lost my remote for my Sylvania SRT 2319 and am trying to program my Time Warner Universal remote to work with it. I have found the code and the remote will power on and off the TV but it will not control any other features. Any time I press the channel key or a number key the CBL (cable) device button blinks, like it's not registering as a TV button. Does that make sense? What can I do?

Our TV is a Zenith Space Command (circa 1990, serial # SG5245S). At present it's hooked up to cable from Shaw (connections are all connected), but we only get about 4 channels (the rest are fuzz). Can the TV be re-calibrated? We have no TV manual (bought it used), and there is no apparent "reset" button, etc. There are buttons that say: Skip, Add, Band, AFC (?). Any guidance is appreciated....
