We lost our network analyst recently, and he left us with almost no documentation. The network is having some issues, and we are troubleshooting, but we cannot get access to one of our switches - it's a Dlink DGS-3450. No problem, right? Well every manual with instructions I can find via Google online is coming up with a 404. We found reference to an addendum with instructions - no luck.
Has anyone done this successfully? Any ideas how to do it without losing configs? The configs are crucial - we can't lose them. Tech support for D-link is closed.
Thanks in advance!

I have a Mac Pro set to DHCP manual assign and a certain IP address that cannot change. I also have a printer plugged into a certain network jack; IP address less important. I am moving the physical location of the Mac Pro near this printer and the printer's network jack is the only one available. I'll have to plug both of these machines into the same network jack via switch/router.
What switch/router is the right one to buy in 2013 (bonus if I can find it at Best Buy) and what the right way to set this up so the Mac Pro is still reachable at the same IP address on the network?

Why can't devices on my new 8-port switch get internet access on my network? I’ve got a new wired network set up in my house and am fine tuning it, getting everything to connect to the internet… Main computer and xbox are working (connected directly to D-Link DGL4300 Wireless router), but the Tivo and anything plugged into the new switch-based jacks aren’t getting to the internet, though they see the network.

Where can I get a giant electrical throw switch?
I've been tasked with finding & buying a gigantic ( ideally 1-2 foot long ) lever. It will go up on the wall of our web development office and it will be labeled "Interwebs: on/off". Where can I find some kind of switch that is worthy of turning the internet on or off?
That's the immediate problem, but let me give you the background - I'd love other ideas too:

Please help me understand this bizarre home electrical-wiring problem, and how to fix it. I've got a mid-50s house. I wanted to put an outlet into the second bathroom, which has none, and it looked like the easiest way to do that would be to replace a wall switch with a combination switch/outlet (specifically,
this one).

Anyone have experience switching from a smartphone to a feature phone?
My current phone is a Blackberry. (Its Blackberry-ness isn't the issue.) I pay AT&T $90 month.
I bought an iPad 6 months ago and my use of the phone has dropped precipitously. I initiate one or two voice calls per week and just a few texts. I never user it to browse the web. I do use it to check mail but I never respond to or initiate email on it. I travel with the iPad, so that relegates the phone to the bench on those occasions, too.
In other words, I have much more phone than I need and I'm paying ATT $90 each month for services I barely use.
So, I'm thinking about terminating the contract and going pay-as-you-go with a cheaper phone.
Has anyone done the same thing for the same reasons? How did it work out? Did you regret it?

My employer is impressed enough with my work that they want to promote me into a position which would ordinarily make for a great career move. I, however, am planning on leaving in a little over a year to earn a degree in a completely different field, and thus have no interest in the job (for reasons explained after the jump.) How do I diplomatically tell them no without jeopardizing my current position, and how much, if any, of my future plans do I mention to them?
