Rhapsody's catalog is pretty good, but poor search and spotty album info are making me unhappy. I want to be able to choose albums and tracks to stream, so I'm not looking for radio. Opera is my priority. Can you help?

I have an iPad 2, a Sandisk mp3 player and about three ipods floating around my house. I also have a Sony ICF-m1000 table radio. When I plug my iPad into the AUX input on the table radio, it's not nearly loud enough.
How can I cheaply amplify the audio from my I-devices so they sound good on the Sony radio?

A spot to help me Spotify? New to Spotify, and just don't have time to build my own playlists. I also would like to be turned on to new music, so finding playlists would be really helpful. I have tried to search on Spotify itself but cant find anything except for the 123 top lists. And the streaming by choosing a genre is good but I'm wondering where else to go. (also after listening to spotify all day at work, the genre streaming seems to repeat, much like satellite radio). I googled a few sites for playlists but they are meh - either hard to search, or filter - or just bad, so thought I'd ask the hive. thanks ps. i did read the archives for related, and looked up mentioned sites but still querying you

I have long held a fantastic dream of what I want my home theater
setup to be. I've tried several times, in several different ways, to
realize this dream - but there is always something. There's always
something that doesn't work right - that makes my final implementation
lacking in some fundamental way. I'm starting to give up hope. So -
I'll tell you what I want and what I've tried - and I want you to tell
me if there's another way. I can't be alone here.

I have a CentOS server with a directory of some MP3s. What is the easiest way to have a radio stream setup so I can listen to them at work or on my phone? I looked at Shoutcast and it seems perfect, but I can't seem to figure out how to get it to randomly pick something from a directory of music instead of connecting to Winamp on a host machine.

I'm looking for a streaming radio station playing the latest in Arab pop music. There used to be a fantastic one called
Beirut Mood Radio a number of months ago. Sadly, it disappeared without a trace. Something in the vein of
Hifa Wehbe would be fantastic. A shoutcast (or icecast) stream would be preferable. Windows Media doesn't work for me. Many thanks.

MP3 Filter: I've got a large MP3 collection at home that I would like to be able to access from my office. It's the last straw, I'm officially tapping my toes to U2's Vertigo, courtesy of Morning Comes Eccectic on KCRW, this has got to stop. My seraches for streaming MP3's has been a bust. I listen to Flaresound and SomaFM, but really would like to find some more organic music for here at work. Bossa Nova would be great. I've completely given up on streaming jazz, I can't find anything that isn't either smooth (gak!) or includes Sun Ra into the mix (beating a trombone to death with a live chicken, while perhaps having artistic merit, isn't good office music.)
Latin jazz? Be-bop? Brazillian music?
Only qualifiers. Must be 128K stream, must be web based, (I don't want traffic reports from Helsinki interrupting my Metafiltering) Anyone got any tips?

At work we use Red Hat linux and I've used Shoutcast to stream music. Today, I tried it on a different computer than normal and got an error reading something along the lines of "digital rights conflict with mpeg1/mpeg2/mpeg3 and Red Hat will now allow you to stream music." Thinking it would still stream (silly me), I clicked the "Do not show me this again" box and now I can't stream anything off any website and can't see that error message to give better details. I also use xmms. Anyone heard of this or know what's up? Also, my normal computer is in use so can't test that one out.
