Spec new home AV system with both line 21/CC & 608/HD captions

Our just-dead entertainment system was a 1999 moderate-price set-up. We don’t need to understand why something is the best system; if it meets our needs (details coming right up) and it costs around $1500 we’d be delirious with joy. We're willing to buy an entirely new system, and/or happy to reuse the currently working bits. We're not audiophiles (we have mild hearing impairments). We'd like something that will still work in a decade. [more inside]

Help Me Help The Gits Stream Video of their reunion concert

On Friday, Dec. 4, The Gits are reuniting for a show. I go way back with their drummer, and he has pointed out to me that they really do not have anything set up by way of media, like perhaps a live stream. Who here has suggestions on how to fix this, and fast? This is really kind of a special event, if you know who the Gits were, you would perforce agree

Help me download streaming video from this site (Note: tricky!!!)

Hi there. I just subscribed to a site called pilatesanytime.com, which offers numerous pilates videos for subscribers to watch. However, I’d like to be able to download the videos to my hard drive to watch when I don’t have an internet connection. I’m using a Mac with Firefox, Chrome and Safari. I’m an “intermediate”-level tech person, but the usual Firefox "get video" Fox extensions do NOT work on this site, nor is the underlying video file visible using such methods as “View Page Source” or Firebug. How do I Google Music?

I was an early adopter of Google Music with the "all access" feature, and have been generally happy with the service for listening to my own library of music and adding new albums from artists I already know I like. The one thing I really don't care for is the automated playlists. Is there any way to improve its suggestions? Should I try to use some other feature of the service to find music? Or is it just not very good for this task? [more inside]

Is there a TV guide covering all online streaming services?

Those of you with a Roku / Chromecast / Apple TV / etc. probably know the drill – you spend more time browsing listings trying to find something you want to watch, than actually watching something. Streaming video around the house

I ripped a bunch of my DVDs to my Mac so that I could put the cases in storage. HAAAAY, I was wondering if there's software or a website I could use to broadcast a movie file that I have, so that my friends and I could all watch it simultaneously. We could all download the file to our separate computers, but I'd like to have it broadcast from one web-location so that we can all be on the same second of the movie at the same time. So that we can gossip about what we're seeing. It would only be like five to ten people, max. Okay, thanks!
