My blog is getting bombarded by a new kind of pingback spam. The pingbacks are produced by a WordPress plugin that appears to mine the web for links related to blog content, which then triggers a pingback notification. Can anyone help me identify the plugin, so I can possibly work to block the pingbacks? [more inside]

WordpressFilter: Haven't blogged in about three months, and am considering a return at the same URL, but don't want to inherit all my old spam comments. Would deleting the Wordpress installation at that address then re-installing it essentially reset the spam, allowing me to better control it this time? FWIW, I've been using Akismet, etc., to monitor and catch most spam but would like as clean a slate as possible.

I get a lot of blog spam on my website and it got me thinking; if I am to fight it more effectively I need to learn more about it. How is it actually sent, what software or scripts do people use, and where do these people hang out on the Internet?

Comment Spam question. Recently I've been hit with hundreds of comment spams to my weblog (MT 3.0 w/ mt-blacklist). The funny thing is the links aren't to the normal kind of sites. The domain names are randoms letters that don't resolve and the text is usually a person's name. For example the link might be 'Lucille' with the domain of xzxesfseor.com.
Why are the comment spammers doing this? Are they attempting to overwhelm the blacklist systems with nonsense? Any explanations?

I came home from my two week vacation to find an enormous amount of comment spam on my MT weblog. I've now read this so I guess I know how to stop it from happening again (if I can figure out all the tech stuff), but deleting is turning out to be a nightmare. Is there some easier way to delete this than going into each post and individually deleting the spam comments?

Over the last few weeks my journal has been bombarded with spam posts about the Passion of Christ, as have the journals of many of my friends. Does anyone know if this is just some random nutjob, or if it's a co-ordinated 'promotion' of the film by some group? [No More Inside]
