On our trip to South America, we will be spending 2.5 days in Iguazu, Argentina, and would appreciate any ideas as to things we should see. Is it worth the extra cost to go to the Brazilian side? Thanks!

Chile, Dec 26th to Jan 5th, flying in and out of Santiago. Please help this South America newbie create an itinerary that allows us to see as much as possible in such a short time. Also, where should we, a young-ish more-or-less American couple, celebrate NYE?

I'm not the first to ask this type of question, but my situation is a bit unique. I have 10 days, starting at Iguazu Falls and flying out of Buenos Aires. My original plan was to travel down to Uruguay for a few days and then take the ferry over to Bs. As (for at least 4 days). I've recently learned about Salta, and it sounds really cool. Is it worth taking the long bus ride there and back down to Bs. As. or should I just let it go and head to Uruguay?

Hello
We are thinking of taking a vacation from Sept 2nd to the 11th somewhere south of the united states (no Mexico/Puerto Rico as we just visited these places)
What countries/cities/towns would you all suggest? We are considering weather (including hurricanes), travel time (less is better) from the NW U.S., and looking for an experience that is different from home.
We are thinking of Belize as a possibility but nothing is definite. In the past we have driven across puerto rico and went by (local) bus down the yucatan peninsula. We enjoyed those. We are not interested in going there again but this gives some idea of the kind of travel we enjoy.

I am trying to find a South American or Latin American film that we watched when I was in college in the 80s. It was described by the professor as being an example of "magic realism" in film. The scene I remember was of an orchard with trees in bloom and the flowers all turned into butterflies. It was NOT an animated film. Any help greatly appreciated!

We will be flying in from Australia so will be coming in and out of Buenos Aires, and are keen to see as much of Argentina and Brazil as possible. I just finished undergrad. I don't have any particular attachment to this city and I don't think I can handle another winter here, so I want to buy a one-way ticket to somewhere interesting and find a new place to live.
I've done this before and I'm not really concerned about the logistics, I just need somewhere cool to start my life. I want to leave the US and I'm thinking South America, but all suggestions welcome!
