Is integrating an Xbox 360 into an existing computer monitor/speakers setup worth it? Or should I simply get a TV? [more inside]

Is there a free program that lets me broadcast "white noise" through my computer speakers? My dogs are vigilant. They bark at noises outside the house, at all hours of the night. We have a "White Noise" machine in our bedroom, and it seems to block the sounds of the outside world quite well, but... our dogs sleep downstairs, and we sleep upstairs, and...we like the white noise machine for ourselves. I was wondering if there were any sort of software that I could run on my downstairs PC, that would play similar white noise, to distract the pups, since my computer is in the room where they tend to sleep. We'll probably buy another white noise machine, but in the meantime, can anyone help? Free software would be preferred! (Or perhaps a website that plays white noise?)

What did I do to my computer to make it squeal? I unplugged and unhooked up my computer to clean the carpets in my office. Now all my soundcard does is squeal at me in a high-pitched tone although it looks like it's connected correctly. Can anyone give me any trouble-shooting suggestions for figuring out how to fix this?

I'm trying to identify the computer application that uses a specific sound clip as some sort of notification noise. The sound is from this Ren and Stimpy short (Log!!) and occurs at 37 seconds in, right after the announcer says "All kids love log!" I know I've heard that little 6-note jingle before and it's driving me crazy!

I have two Dell 2405fpw monitors (24") and they make a horrible high pitch sound when the screen saver runs or any extended graphics run. I am running OSX, fyi, and want to know if this can be rectified? Why do the monitors make this high sound, and can it be stopped?

A friend of mine is looking for an application (Windows XP preferred, but other platforms might work) that will allow him to freeform draw a sound wave, and have it exported as an AIFF of WAV. Does anyone know of such a utility?

Winamp lowers the volume after every song. So, I'm constantly turning it all the way back up. How do I get it to stop that? They may be trying to save my ears, but my headphones are dying and I have a slight hearing problem. I listen to a song, and the next one is suddenly just a whisper. So frustrating.
