I recently read
about a piece of software that Pixar uses in house to iterate story ideas called "Pitch Docter" (named after Peter Docter). I'm curious to see if anything non-proprietary exists out there. [more inside]

I am a beginner in information technology, and I need to learn HTML5.
For me to start learning HTML5, I need to know what languages/codes that I should know to start working in HTML5.
I know HTML5 are used for webpages, mobile, games, and others.
For example, I knew that I should be familiar with CSS3
So what are other basic information and skills needed to learn before starting with HTML5?

Is there software that lets me move around an ipad/iphone/android in 3D space and see the world through a huge collection of old photo? Think Microsoft Photosynth

Do you use the Google Chrome browser? Try this: Open the history page, and search for a term. The resulting list will include not just the pages that have the term in their page's title or URL; it will also include pages that have the term in the actual text
This indicates that somewhere, Chrome is actually storing the text of all web pages you visit. (This is backed up by the fact that the search-results page shows you snippets from the results.) So here's the thing: I want to see the whole page
of cached text, not just snippets. [more inside]

I was asked to recommend a software/hardware solution that would enable our local farmers market to allow patrons to visit different vendor tables, choose their items and pay at a central pay station. Currently, patrons get handed a slip and present a number of slips at the pay station. I look to you, oh crowd, as this area of technology is not my strong suit.

Does anyone know of a free, online program that, for lack of a better phrase, I'll call a random sentence scrambler? I see there are a lot of anagram makers but I want one for about 500 word bodies of text. Theoretically I could paste in the text and it would spit it out with all the words intact, the sentence structure preserved, just arranged into a new sequence. Thanks.

How can I create a social networking site? I am in Southern California (Inland Empire/Orange County) and interested in building a social networking/message board/blog site along the lines of Sermo
that isn't really about customizable media and meeting friends, as much as it is for people within a certain specialty, let's say the veterinary community, to share their ideas about their expertise with peers, receive newsletters relevant to their work, and ask for their peers' opinions or advice. Now that we have desktop search engine that can index contents of text files in a computer, how about a software that can index the contents of audio files (e.g. speeches , teleclasses, voice mails) ?
Anybody making it or even selling it?
Thank you very much.

I am working with a 17 year-old boy who has Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis. He loves doing animation on the computer, and he has been using Windows Movie Maker. In recent months, he has been in a chronic flare and is unable to use his hands. He is also very depressed, and I believe that being able to do something he loves may help his current mental state. Does anyone know of any animation software that has adaptations for use with voice commands? (I know about Dragon Dictate for Word Processing, but can it be used with other types of software?)
Bonus points if you can tell me about any benevolent companies or agencies that offer this kind of software/hardware at a discounted or pro bono rates. This boy is not from a wealthy family and he has only the most basic health coverage.

I recall an application for the Treo 600 phone which allowed me to dump pictures from my phone directly to my Mac bypassing the built in route which only allows you to transfer images by emailing them. I think I saw it on Gizmodo or Boing Boing a while back, but can't find it now when I search. Anyone know what the name of this Palm application is?

I'm working with a new 6th - 12th grade school focusing on Arts & Technology integrated into the cirriculum. We're looking for software that will allow us to accomplish varying tasks - e-mail for students/teachers/parents, digital portfolio publishing for students, shared discussion space for class comments, teacher/course specfic pages etc. Each student will have their own portable computer as well.
What I'm looking for is pratical thoughts/examples of how to provide this functionality. I've seen some schools using Manila
also seems very promising but perhaps a bit too "big" for us to take on.
Is the weblog paradigm itself a good one to be pursuing to pull this off? Or are we just not ready to go there without significant effort? If you were attempting to create this techno environment for a school (many of whose students and teachers are unfamilar with technology) how would you pull it off?
