We're going to Sicily in March, it's time to firm up our itinerary. We fly into Palermo and out of Catania. We plan on spending 3-4 days in Palermo, and then renting a car an setting out being in Catania 2 weeks later. We'd like to stay in two different areas for a week each, day trip to see the sights with a car, staying in an apartment or agriturismo if possible.
Where should we head? Interests are history, food and wine. Okay I lie, mostly food and wine. We are two adults and two twin girls who are 11. Not that interested in beaches.
Which areas/towns offer the best markets/winieries/classic ruins within an hour drive?

Is a quick trip to Sicily worth it? I've got a ticket to fly to Rome 4-11 December, and am considering a quick trip to Sicily (max 3 days, min 1 day) via a low-cost air carrier.

We are going to be in Sicily during the Easter week, and would be interested in experiencing some of the traditional Easter traditions, as pictured

However, we don't know where to go at what time. Any relevant information and recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

For vacation, I was thinking of starting in Palermo and making my way to Rome. I know next to nothing about this part of the world, so I don't know how good or bad of an idea this is. Any thoughts from those familiar with the area would be greatly appreciated!

I'm attending a meeting in Catania, on the east coast of Sicily, July 3-7, and taking my wife and 12-year-old son. We'd like to leave London June 28, spend four or five days in Rome or Venice, then return from Catania July 8 or 9, and not break the bank. I know there are lots of discount airlines in Europe, and we'd also consider train or bus within Italy, but right now I have too many variables and not enough equations. Thanks!

Is Sicily a good place to go scuba diving? One source says that the Mediterranean "has largely been fished out through over zealous spear fishing."
