Nerdlinger/Microsoft Server Filter: Can SQL 2000 exist in a Windows 2008 Domain when installed on a Windows 2000 member server ?
Before anyone says it, yes, yes I know it's old, outdated, unsupported, we should be using SQL 2005 or looking at SQL 2008 and that it can't be installed on a Windows 2008 server.
BUT... does anyone know if SQL 2000 will work when installed on a Windows 2000 server that is a member of a Windows 2008 domain?
I know that Windows 2000 servers can be members of a 2008 domain but Exchange 2000 won't work. Will SQL 2000?

I'm working in Visual Basic (Access 2003, technically) with a SQL Server 2000 backend, and I believe I need to create a View dynamically... I am very familiar with creating QueryDef's and Stored Procedures on the fly, but have never attempted to create a View in this manner... My google-fu seems to be failing me at the moment.. I currently have a very low level of SQL knowledge (I can construct simple queries for multiple tables, but I start to fall apart on the difference between inner and outer joins).
I need to learn to create multiple join SQL queries and Dynamic SQL/Stored Procedures on MS SQL Server 2000 in a short period of time. I'd also like to learn to use MS Query Analyzer more efficiently. Is there one book or online resource that is best for this?
Additionally, are there alternatives to using MS Query Analyzer, or is that really *the* tool? [more inside]

I am trying to implement SQL mail fonctionnality for monitoring purpose under win2k / sql2k, only problem is to be configurer properly it must first obtain its parameter from Microsoft Mail API (MAPI) thru an already configured mail account, these are production servers and i don't feel too good about installing Outlook or Outlook express just to get an account configured so i can use this fonctionnnality. is there a way around this ?
I am aware of several monitoring solution offered by third parties and i accept proposition (please no astroturfin') but I want to get that build in feature to work first.. anyone ?
Thanks
