Inexpensive Prescription Sunglasses

I want to get inexpensive prescription sunglasses by buying drug store frames and inserting real lenses. The eyeglass place says I need to buy ophthalmological frames (which they sell for $100 and up) because drugstore sunglasses are too cheap and not up to the job. Is this the real deal or are they scamming me?

Look Out Honey, 'Cause I'm Usin' Technology

I posted some items for sale on Craigslist, and shortly thereafter I got email from a typical scammer who wanted to send me and have me cash a check from "his client," and I'd refund him the balance--you know, the textbook overpayment with a fake check scam. Now, I'd like to have some fun with this. [more inside]

What do you do when you've been scammed on eBay?

I am concerned that a CD I've committed to buy on eBay is a counterfeit. The item's identification number is 4881752639. My concerns were raised after I read some of the seller's feedback from buyers and consequently the feedback the seller has left for them. Also, some buyers have gone so far as to create warning pages for others. There's even damning comments on Znooq's blog about the exact same item I've bought. [more inside]

Internet Scam Savvy

I posted something for sale on Craigslist. The first response I got was interested and asked normal questions. I responded, but the followup from the possible buyer was totally different tone and asking to pay in a form (AlertPay International Money Order) I'm not familiar with and can't find through a search. I want to sell this item, but I don't want to be scammed. Anyone know what AlertPay International Money Order is and whether it's on the level? [more inside]

What to do if being scammed online?

I have been scammed! What to do if you bought an item online and the seller did not ship it and took the money? The money was money order which probably make things worse for me. After some research it turns out that this particular seller has done the same to several people and the site she uses to advertise on has no rating system. I filed a complaint here http://www.ic3.gov/ but other than that and learning a lesson, anything else can be done to stop that scammer from not doing that again to others?
