Cityboy and I will be in Savannah, Georgia from Friday to Monday for a Sunday wedding, but booked the long weekend as a getaway. We're in a VRBO carriage house in the Historic District on East Jones St, and need HiveMind help.
We will not have a car, and will be cabbing or shuttling from the airport - suggestions on airport-to-town travel also appreciated.
What local specialty food should we make sure to seek out? I'm guessing BBQ, but what else is wonderful in Savannah? What should we definitely do? Museums? Galleries? Theatre? Shops? If you are familiar with Savannah please recommend your favorite places. Favorite restaurants, especially within the area around the historic district are especially welcome. Thank you!

Four dudes, mid 20s, three cities: Charleston, SC, Savannah, GA, Asheville, NC. We've got two days in each city and none of us have ever been to any of these places. We are pretty much up for anything (hiking, historical sites, food, drinking, etc). So....what should we do?

I'm planning a bachelor party in Savannah, GA for eight guys between 25 and 30. Being from the state, I'm familiar with Savannah and the night life. I'm more interested in what to do during the day. The stag is an outdoorsy forester who might like some outdoor stuff and also a huge reader. Any suggestions about nightlife, hotels, and other attractions would also be appreciated.

My husband-to-be has suggested Savannah as a honeymoon location. He has a friend down there; we enjoy exploring and going to cool places and eating good food and being near the ocean. (Not sunbathing, just dunking our feet and hanging out, maybe riding a boat.) Tell me more, MeFites! [more inside]

Husband and I are thinking of going to Savannah, Georgia during the Christmas holidays. The threads here on Savannah as to where to go and eat have been very helpful. My question is, if we plan to arrive in Savannah on Christmas Day and stay for about 5, 6 days, will the shops and restaurants be open during that period? Or will they likely be closed for the holidays. Oh, we'll probably drive to Charleston too, so it would be helpful to know if the city closes down during the holiday season as well. Thanks!

I'm thinking about relocating to Savannah, Georgia in a few months to stay for probs a year or so. My background is in advertising and art and also office admin and plenty of retail, customer service and food service - a little bit of everything.
Anyway, I was wondering about cost of living and if it's a cool city to stay in (loved it when I was there) and job prospects. I'm prepping a portfolio to apply to fashion school next fall so I'm looking for a good place to go. Love big cities but they seem to be a massive drain on the bank account (too many awesome rock shows!), but I'm not opposed. Mostly I need a place where I can afford a live/work situation so I can get the artwork done.
Any other recommendations for hip / inspiring / artistic / progressive / bike and walk friendly (no car) cities are welcome.
Female, mid-20s and tired of the Midwest. :)
Thanks in advance!

I need salon/spa recommendations in Savannah or Richmond Hill GA. Specifically, I'm looking for a place to get a brazilian wax and also looking for a new hair stylist. Bonus if I can find them in one location or close together. Super-bonus if there's a bit of interesting shopping near by.

How do I find and evaluate assisted living, retirement communities, and nursing homes from afar? My father wants my help in researching retirement options for him, and he wants to retire to an area where neither of us currently lives. Google is a bit overwhelming and feels predatory on this topic, and I'm just not sure how to proceed. [more inside]

We'll probably swing down and visit Savannah, and then go back up and stop in Atlanta to visit family for a day or so. We only have a week to do this.
