Does anyone know of a Google Maps equivalent for bicycle route-finding in the greater Los Angeles area? You type in starting and ends points, and it gives you a bike-safe route, off busy streets? Thanks

Road trip! I'm planning a road trip to numerous locales scattered across much of the north-eastern half of the USA, and was curious about software that might help me optimize the route planning, given a list of destinations in no particular order.

I'll be driving from Los Angeles to the Seattle area in a few weeks. I don't want to endure the dreariness of I-5 all the way up, but I also don't want to spend too much time on the trip. Three days would probably be ideal; four would be acceptable. What route will provide the best balance of beauty/points of interest and expediency? [more inside]

I'm a fairly new motorcycle rider (MSF class, less than 1,000 miles so far), and I'm looking for a route out to Eastern Long Island that is both fun and not completely insane, especially through Queens & Nassau County. My longer rides to date have been up the Palisades to Harriman & the surrounding area. If I was in a car, I'd simply forgo the fun aspect & get on either the LIE or the Grand Central/Northern Pkway, but both of those routes are pretty dicey, and stress-inducing even in a car. My time is flexible - I'd plan on doing the trip during off-hours, both heading out & returning. Suggestions much appreciated. FWIW, I'm heading out from Park Slope.

Me and three friends are flying out to drive across America, mainly following the old Route 66. I have two main questions: 1) What's worth seeing on this route? 2) What should we be wary of? Also, any other advice is more than appreciated.

Taking my last motorcycle trip of the season. Anyone have suggestions for a more pleasant riding route from NYC to Baltimore than I-95? I don't mind an extra hour or two; the more rural the better.

The Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority's Web site has a really neat application - RideGuide - that enables you to enter the addresses of your start point and destination and times, and it will crank out the subway and bus connections you need to get where you want to go.

Is there a New York City equivalent?
