My girlfriend and I have our great AZ/NM road trip this month, and we'll be looping around and through the Navajo nation on our way to the Chaco Canyon UNESCO site. What should we know, what should we make side-trips for, and where can we get a good bowl of lamb stew?

My friend and I are planning a one-way road trip from Denver, CO to Rochester, NY this June. The catch? We would like to complete it in around 7 days. I'm looking for your insight on how to make the most of the cities along our route in a limited amount of time (probably about 5 hours of exploring), suggestions for a better route, or general road trip advice.

In one short month Mr. Bruno and I are traveling to California (from Boston) for a long overdue vacation. I am hoping you can help me make it even more awesome (it’s been years since we got to travel without a family visit or a wedding to attend, so it’s already pretty awesome). I have seen
this thread, and used it to plan parts of this trip, and would like some specific feed back as well as general recommendations, if you’ve got ‘em. Accomodations and number of nights are set, but activities are not. Things we like: eating, walking/not-too-long hikes (especially in parks/gardens), people watching, unusual museums/unique visitor attractions, farmer’s markets, bookstores, unique food shops. Most of our vacations are just walking around, poking into places that look interesting, and eating.

Are there any fun, weird, or tasty roadside attractions on the drive from Rochester, NY to Grand Rapids, MI? We're going through Canada (Hamilton, London, etc.) then crossing back into the US at Sarnia (?) and going through Flint and Lansing.
Relevant info:
- we've got 12 and 9 year old boys
- we're mainly trying to just get to our destination in one day, but would love some fun stops
- traveling in early April, so warm weather is not expected

We (my husband, and 11 month old daughter) are moving cross country from Brooklyn to Los Angeles- and will be driving our new car cross country. We leave April 1st, have 10 days to get there, (our stuff is being shipped via movers and doesn't arrive for 10 days, so we need to take our time) and we are trying to figure out the best route to take that avoids severe weather as much as possible. Any ideas?

I'm on a big road trip with my 2-year old. I'm taking the I-40 between AZ and TN. I'll be going through Flagstaff, Albuquerque, Santa Fe, Amarillo, Oklahoma City, Little Rock, Memphis, Nashville.
I would love any suggestions for things a toddler would like along the way. Museums that have hands-on exhibits geared to toddlers, great parks and playgrounds, water he can play or splash in and waterfowl of all kinds is always a hit.
He's also happy just running around at a rest stop obviously, but if I can make stops he really likes he complains less about the time in the car.

At the end of August, we are going on a 9 day road trip through Oregon (round-trip from Seattle). The plan is to start on the east side of the Cascades, visit Bend and Crater Lake, arrive in Ashland (for the Oregon Shakespeare Festival) and head north along the coast on the way home. Any suggestions on what to visit and where to stay?

Please recommend region-specific literary or fun or literary-fun audiobooks for a long road trip. Thus far I have The Great Plains by Ian Frazier, for when I'm driving across the Great Plains. And American Gods by Neil Gaiman, for when I'm headed to the House on the Rock in Wisconsin. Driving from NYC to LA to Portland, Oregon. Anything but James Michener would be very welcome! (Not knocking James Michener, he's just not my favorite)

Can you suggest some amazing places for me to visit within a ~10 hour drive of Orlando, Florida? I will be leaving Orlando on September 1st and have to be back either in Orlando or in Atlanta, Georgia afternoon of 7th September for my flight back to London, England. New Orleans is one enticing idea so far, Miami slightly less so...but very keen to get some suggestions from the hive mind. Everything from historic landmarks to city culture to the big wide open considered (and I'm a big fan of freshwater swimming too).

I've read this
question looking for a road trip planning website. We have been using Google Maps which will tell you the driving distance between two cities IF you type those cities in. But is there any road-trip planning website or app that you can tell "I am in Seattle and want to drive about 6-7-8 hours east, where is a good place to stop for the night?" Sounds simple, but we're jerking between a road atlas (to show us sizable cities and what fun stops are along the way) and Google Maps to give us the approx driving time and mileage. Yes, road atlases give miles, but it seems there must be an online way that shows us a bunch of choices. Anything out there?
