I always thought that, when it comes to phobias, I won the genetic lottery, because I don't have any. I am not afraid of public speaking, flying, heights, clowns, snakes, spiders, etc. I'm not even claustrophobic, despite my mother and brother being terribly so. However, I've recently found myself wondering if perhaps I have a mild fear of wide open spaces.

Today, I purchased a new 13" MacBook Pro, model MD101LL/A, which I believe is a June 2012 model. I have an existing, working 13" MacBook Pro from early 2011. Can I just pull the hard drive out of the old one and stick it in the new one, or should I restore from a backup? Also, what are the odds the memory in the old one will work in the new one? Both are Core i5.

I have a 13-inch, early 2011 Macbook Pro (unibody) that fell out of my backpack and onto a sidewalk. It was in a neoprene sleeve, which helped, but the aluminum screen cover (the part with the white Apple logo on it) is rather dented. The laptop works fine, and there are no cracks on the screen at all. However, I am interested in getting this part replaced, and I have some questions about cost.

I have an early 2011 Macbook Pro. I am installing a 64GB SSD (for OSX Lion and applications) and and then repurposing my stock HDD as my drive for my Home folder (documents, etc) using an OWC Data Doubler (installed in my optical drive spot). I have a bootable SuperDuper backup and many Time Machine Backups (on external drives). Once everything is installed, how can I transfer everything from backups to their new locations without losing all my preferences, bookmarks, etc.

I can, however, hear a click inside the engine compartment each time I turn the key.

I use Google Calendar, which I access either on iCal (Lion), my iPhone 4 (running iOS 5.01) and my iPad 2 (also running iOS 5.01). Sometimes, randomly, events I add to my calendar in iCal do not show up on my iPad or iPhone. However, when I go to Settings on the iOS devices, select "Mail, Contacts, and Calendars" and turn my Google Calendars off and then on again, everything works fine, and all events show up on all devices. How can I avoid having to manually do this, and have things just work.

I recently bought a new Macbook Pro (2.3 i5) and almost immediately put 8GB 1333Mhz DDR3 RAM in it. Almost immediately, I got a kernel panic, and then Chrome would crash every once in a while. I have also had occasional crashes of Pages, MailPlane, and BusyCal, but no more panics. It has been about a week or so since I installed the RAM. Do you think I have a bad memory stick, or is this occasional crashiness related to something else?

My monitor is a 24" Samsung with dual VGA and DVI outputs. I've been using the DVI output to connect to a 3 year old white Macbook. Today, like an idiot, I moved the monitor without detaching the monitor cable, and the screws snapped off, and I cannot get what is left of them out of the holes. So now, I can either use the DVI output with no screws to hold the cable in place, or I can use the VGA output. Which is my best option?
