Is this real?

I need help people. I'm very interested in some research about antidepressants and about how they inhibit love and feelings. There are many articles about this online but I'm having trouble finding any corroborating evidence from other researchers (everything that I've found lists Dr. Helen Fisher of Rutgers as the source). I'm also interested in any research that disputes this, other than that from the drug companies themselves, obviously. [more inside]

Teach a Martian how to be a boyfriend.

Throughout my life, I've had to learn social interaction as if I were a Martian anthropologist... consciously studying, taking notes, and practicing. A few years ago, I finally cracked "how to make friends" and seemingly overnight, I started making real connections. It was amazing. But now, from experience and from talking to my all-too-quickly growing posse of close female friends (most of whom I wished could have been more than that), I'm learning that the way you interact with someone you're interested in isn't as simple as having a great friend that you make out with like there's no tomorrow. There are subtle, maybe very simple, but essential things that separate lovers from pals. I need you to tell me-- in the most literal terms possible-- what those things are. [more inside]

Addicted to the thrill of the chase ... help.

Therapy: Confidentiality/conflict of interest?

I've been seeing a psychotherapist since last summer. A few months ago, my boyfriend joined me in seeing the same person for couples counseling. Ok so I've started seeing an ex girlfriend of mine, we had a pretty intense relationship a few years back........

Ok so I've started seeing an ex girlfriend of mine, we had a pretty intense relationship a few years back which had a messy ending. We got back in touch a few weeks ago and have been talking on the phone for hours, met up a few times and seemed to be rembering all the reasons why we fell in love the first time. We met-up last Monday, everything went well and we had arranged to see each other again on Saturday. We exchanged a few messages on Wednesday she was saying how much she was looking foreword to sat how excited she was etc. I text her on the sat to confirm she does reply, I ring her she doesn’t answer. Slightly concerned I txt her saying iell be there anyway. Come the time to meet she’s not there and her phone is turned off. I've spent the last few days feeling like crap. I've text her a few times asking what the hell is going on still not one reply. Now I don’t know what to do if she’s changed her mind about me/us that I could deal with, just, but to drop all contact like that. Aghh it’s doing my head in. I can’t fathom how she could be so into me one second and ignore me the next. Anyone been in a similar situation, should I just drop it and move on? Do I confront her in person? With anyone else I think I would have got the message by now, she just means so much to me.

How can I make the best of things in a relationship that's been derailed by both our health problems and our shyness?

I am in my mid-thirties and after suffering from shyness all my life am finally in my first long-term (2 years plus) relationship (she is slightly younger and this is also her first relationship). We have had difficult times when her mental illness/ anxiety problems got worse, and I have had bad spells with depression, plus our love life has been hampered by my impotence, but she has stuck with me and I really value our relationship. However our relationship seems to be "stuck" - she has said that while she really cares about me, she's not "in love" with me, and I have the same feeling for her. When we talked about this I felt maybe we should end the relationship and try to remain friends, but she persuaded me that both of us are highly likely to going back to being unhappilly single without the emotional support we enjoy now, and that it was better to focus on what we had (we get on well, enjoy spending time together, don't dislike or argue with each other) rather than what we didn't have. I'm convinced she is sincer, and I also want to put in some thought and effort to improve our relationship, but I'm not sure what to do or where to start. MeFites can you help? [more inside]

Keeping friendships in grad school?

As a doctoral student, how do you maintain friendships with non-academics? With all the lab work and time that goes into research, there isn't a lot of time for fun.
