There seem to have been lots of developments in text to speech since the subject was last raised, and I was wondering if anyone could point me to a solution fitting some specific criteria for an arty project. Details inside: [more inside]
So, after the demise of Google Reader I switched to InoReader, which is great (yay!). Unfortunately though, it's recently been blocked by the webfilter at work (boo!), so I'm looking for alternatives. [more inside]
I need to print a whole bunch of PDFs with really special settings today. How do I go into Reader and switch the settings from "Imprimir" to "Print" so I can go into Preferences and make all of the special settings to collate and staple, etc? I want to just make the Reader program all in English. Do I need to reinstall or is it just an option? How would I find the option since it's all in Spanish? Thanks.
I'm not fond of Feedly's insistence that you log in using a Google account. Searching for an RSS reader to replace it. [more inside]
Given that it has been revealed the NSA has access to all smartphones, and given that recent reports have indicated the NSA is capable of breaking all known encryption... should I trust Apple that the NSA will not have access to my fingerprint? If I buy the new iPhone... should I stop short of using the fingerprint identification feature?
I would like my boyfriend to read more for leisure. Partly because I think he'd enjoy it, but also because I think it would be a good activity to share together. He's never been "into" reading; I think he sees it as a significant commitment. Were you a non-reader previously and now love to read? What made you change? If you are an avid reader yourself, have you ever inspired someone to start? How did you go about it? [more inside]
I've been using Feedly as my Reader replacement because it seems to be the closest to what I want, but just like every other Reader replacement it doesn't do "Mark All As Read" correctly. Is there one out there that does? The incorrect behavior is as described here, but every single RSS reader I've tried has the same behavior. [more inside]
Ideally, I'd like to find a way to get subscribed to BOTH the print and electronic versions, under one subscription charge, through one platform. (e.g. Buy a print subscription through Amazon and get the Kindle version free, or v.v.) [more inside]

I follow over a thousand sites on Google Reader, and am hella disappointed that it's being axed. Is there a final consensus on the best RSS reader to replace Google's? Specs = Mac / OSX / old Chrome / iPhone 4S. [more inside]

All the reader apps I've found don't have pinterest support, and the pinterest app browser is a super cumbersome way to use google reader, as is safari for ipad. The only workaround I've found is to copy the web address within the RSS feed of any post I want to pin, then paste that address in either the pinterest app or safari, then pin it, rendering ipad virtually useless for reading blogs. There has to be a better way, right? [more inside]
I want this: 1) highlight portion of any website, including embedded youtube, images, text, what have you. 2) click bookmarklet. Optional step 3) a new window pops up, allowing me to add a note. 4) a subscribeable RSS feed receives a new entry, whose title is a link back to the website in step one, and whose body is the highlighted portion from step one as well as my note. 5) share RSS with friends. Does it exist? [more inside]

Google Reader seems to be permanently displaying an error message when I first try to access my feeds. To recap the specifics of my problem, here's what caused it to come up in the first place, and what I've done to try and solve it. 1) Imported all of my feeds from another Reader account. 2) Attempted to access my new Reader account, which always results in the "You don't have permission to view this feed." error message. I can then click on "All Items" and access my feeds, but this extra step is really annoying (it's the internet, don't make me click twice ;). 3) Checked to see if the address is "https" and not "http". Yes, it's "https" 4) Tried deleting all of my feeds, starred items, etc, and then subscribing to a brand new one. The problem remains. Anyone know what might be causing this? Can I just delete this Reader account (w/o deleting my Gmail, GPlus, etc.) and start again? Also, yes, I asked this question on Google's forums months ago and haven't received any useful advice there. Probably because Google doesn't really care about its users. Oh, and this is on all browsers and all different computers.
How do I get a job as a "voice" for audio books? [more inside]
Who are your favorite audiobook readers? My favorites so far have been Stephen Briggs (reading Discworld, Terry Pratchett) and Lenny Henry (reading Anansi Boys, Neil Gaiman). I really enjoy readers who do great, distinctive character voices. I tend to prefer the male voice, but I'm open to trying female narrators as well. Suggestions?
Wanted: a large e-book reader with e-ink and PDF support. Does anyone know of such a product or if one is in the works? [more inside]
My nephew is 20. He's starting college again. He doesn't read, so his essays are poorly written. The information is in there, but it is poorly structured, Capital letters appear for no Apparent reason, etc. If he read anything, ever, his writing would improve. But he won't. He likes boxing. Can anyone recommend a boxing book which would entertain him and is simple enough for him to understand ?

Is there a way to post stand-alone websites to the New Google Reader? I used to do it with a tool in my bookmarks toolbar called "Note in Reader", but that no longer works. I simply don't see how to do it. I really like to keep a web-file of my favorite articles. Can I still do it in Google Reader? I hate to go to an alternate source to create a webfile, but if you have a suggestion, and I could consider that too, much as I hate to.
Google Reader's social features just went dark. I'm distraught. What are my alternatives? [more inside]
So last night I upgraded my iPad2 to iOS5 and discovered that my favorite e-book reader app, Stanza, doesn't work anymore. The ´net seems to think it will no longer be developed, so now I need to find a new reader. Dropbox connection is essential. I have (just now) settled on Bluefire, which is OK but laggy compared to Stanza. Any better suggestions for e-book reader apps for iPad2?

Can anyone recommend a plug-in that allows adobe acrobat to sort pages by page number? I want to remove all of the stars from my Google Reader starred items, so that I can start from scratch with my starred items. Is there any way to do this without doing it one by one? My searches seem to prove that this is a desired feature but not one that can be done, but I figured if there was a group that could either (a) help or (b) find me a shortcut solution, this would be it.

I miss the Common Reader catalog. Have you missed it too, and do you know where to find a list of what was in the inventory?
With failing eyesight I'm considering an e reader primarily to transfer articles (not necessarily PDFs) from online sources to a reader creating my own electronic magazine. I think I need a reader that will allow enlarging text, has sufficient contrast control to make text darker when necessary. Unfamiliar with any reader, and frustrated by the inability to get hands-on shopping experiences, I wonder what recommendations you might give. The Kindle, available at Amazon for $139, is affordable and currently is front runner.
