I'm looking for a local store that carries Nepalese hats (the kind with ear flaps and a tassle). Found lots on line, but I'd prefer to shop in person for this so I can try a bunch on before picking the pattern. REI appears to carry them, I'd prefer something along the smallish
import store style. (Can one really shop local for an import item?) Location - I'm in Oregon, between Salem and Eugene, so recommendations in either city would be fine.

[Possible Pipe Dream Filter] I used to ride horses competitively, and recently am longing to hang out with horses again. I'm not looking to compete, nor do I want to take lessons or go on guided trail rides, since I already know how to ride. I just want to get back into riding for the fun of it. What are my options, if any? [more inside]

[Bookfinder filter] Trying to find a book I read at school, in the UK, in about 1987. It was a book for teenagers, with two interweaving stories across different times: one thread involved a teenage couple in modern times, and the other thread was about some Norse warriors, including a berserker, in ancient England. The two threads were tied together by an ancient axe head. The final section of the book was written in a cipher. [more inside]

I have a picture of a quilt that was auctioned off, I'd like to have it made. Is there a way to request an item on Etsy?
Click for pic, on Photobucket
(I've asked the auctioneers who originally made the quilt, so I can go straight to the source. Haven't gotten an answer yet. My first choice would be to give my money / kudos to the original creator of the quilt.)

A few years ago, I had a girlfriend who (gently) took me to task about my wardrobe and made a few suggestions as to how I could look better. I could see the difference after I'd tried a few new outfits, but I'm not very good at coming up with them myself, and I'm not very good at knowing what looks good and what has to change. It recently popped into my head that I could hire someone to help me out with this, but I know absolutely nothing about how to do so--although I hope MeFi harbors someone who does. Can you help me? I'm trying to remember the name of a PC game I used to play and my mind is not helping. It was an abstract game (black background simply drawn objects), in each level you floated slowly to the ground, except when you passed through an object, which catapulted you upwards. The goal of each level was to pass through all of the objects. The trick was to relax and use very gentle mouse movements, and the soundtrack changed as you got smoother in your play. [more inside]

Hi,
I will be living in Mumbai for 11 weeks next summer. I have an unlocked iPhone 3G. What is my best bet in terms of carrier and plan for the cheapest and most reliable data access? I plan to do local calls over the cell phone voice network and international calls via Skype on the iPhone.
Thanks in advance!

Is there a good website for making flow charts or concept maps or cognitive maps in groups? A group of my students and I will be making a website together, and I am hoping to find a free or low-cost way for all of us to make such a chart together online. This would be to show how all of the sections of the website relate to each other. Any thoughts or experiences with such services would be most appreciated.
