I'd like to use certain, specific applications over a SOCKS proxy on OS X. Is this possible? [more inside]

My friend has just moved from the US to the UK. She still has a Movielink account, and would like to continue to download her movies. However, the Movielink site bounces her away, because of her UK IP. Anonymizer.com won't cut it. Any suggestions?
