Overnight Trip (from Paris) without a car -- which would be better: Avignon or Nimes? We will be on foot, staying just one night, and are into history, archeology, museums, good food. If one not better than the other, what differences should we know about?

Going to Provence for two weeks in mid-September. What off-the-beaten path attractions or towns are not to be missed? Specific interests inside.

I have to go to Aix-en-Provence for work for two weeks. I would like to hear some restaurant recommendations in the "cheap and good" category.

TravelFilter: French Public Transport advice. I'm flying into Marseille MP2 airport and need to find my way to Carpentras near Avignon to meet some friends. I'd prefer not to hire a car as I won't need it while there.
My firends might be able to pick me up in Avignon but would be good to get all the way to Carpentras if easy enough (and cheap).

Young couple visited France last year for about two weeks with few plans other than a couple of booked hotel rooms and a TGV pass. They fell in love with the country and would love to move there about 5 years out...

Provence: Aix-En-Provence. Workplace permitting I'll spend a nice week to 10 days in the city and I'd like to visit anything you deem to be very nice in a 150 Km radius from the city itself. Any idea ?

We're going to the south of France in November, and have been investigating options between Paris and Provence. TGV train, Air France between Charles DeGaulle and Marseille etc. Then my wife discovers EasyJet. Orly to Marseille, Eight euros plus tax each way. How the hell does this work? Eight Euros? It costs more to take the train into town from the airport than that.
Someone want to give me the heads up on the EasyJet business model and why other forms of transport aren't obsolete. Why would anyone do anything other than this?
Merci
