I have a Weber Q120 grill which I love to use, but it works off those little green camping type propane tanks, so it'll go through them quickly.

Is a heat pump worth it? Online calculators are a hugely mixed bag with obvious biases on many of them, and installers all want to sell their favorite gizmos so it's hard to get a straight answer from them.

I'm beginning to look into propane barbeques. Now, I have a natural gas outlet/line already installed on my deck, and I'd much rather use that than deal with propane tanks. I see plenty of gas BBQ conversion kits available online, but A. How safe/easy is this conversion to do yourself? B. Does it need to be done professionally / follow some city code?

We have a normal fireplace in our 1968 rambler that has never been used. We would like to put in a gas fireplace insert, but it would cost about $1200 to have a gas line installed (we use natural gas to heat our home). The fireplace has a small door in the rear for cleaning--is it possible to install a propane-fueled artificial fireplace log?

Which has a bigger (ie. worse) environmental impact: grilling with propane or grilling with charcoal? Taking into account not only the actual process of burning the material itself, but also cost of producing & shipping the fuel, etc.

ManyRelatedQuestionsFilter: Can I convert an indoor stove from natural gas to propane? Is it safe? Is it difficult? Do I need to buy a special stove and/or special kit? How often would I have to change a standard propane tank? Does anyone have any experiences converting or cooking with a converted range? Should I convert a gas stove or rewire for an electric stove? Thanks!!!

I'm considering moving to a nice house twenty miles away from the big city I'm currently in, but the new home uses a water well--I don't know exactly what type at the moment, but let us assume I won't need a bucket--and propane for heating. What should I expect from these in regards to water quality, water pressure, cost of propane versus gas provided by public utilities, and anything else those experienced with these systems can think of.

Househeatingfilter: Saladpants is a city boy from major east coast city, who recently moved to smaller west coast city, Portland, OR. He and Mrs. Saladpants are looking at a house which, while only 15 minutes from downtown, is essentially out in the country. This means that the house has no gas line running to it and no sewer either.
In this particular house, the Saladpantses have two potential heating options: Propane or Electric. They have no experience with either, and are uncertain as to which is better. They seek opinions, wisdom and experiences of fellow mefites.

What are the primary gases produced by propane combustion? I was just told a story about a nearby warehouse, very high ceilings, 2600 sq ft, which is being heated by umbrella-style outdoor propane heaters (think of outdoor restaurants in LA, for you left coasters). Visions of dead people litter my mind, consequently. Am I right, or confused with regard to the exhaust? Please provide authoritative links so I can pass this along without being confrontational.
