I have some ideas I want to bring to fruition. Is it best to focus on each one at a time until I either complete it or go as far as I can go with it? Or is it better to schedule my time so I work on each of them a little each day and move them all forward at once?

I have 3-5 days (starting tomorrow!) in which I'm off from work, and have really nothing planned. As a developer geek in a crappy economy, I'm looking at looming unemployment and/or the start of a freelance career in the very near future. I want to this time making "something" that I can use in my portfolio to show potential employers/clients. What on earth can I build? [more inside]

Electronics/LED Folks: I bought a few cheap, poorly-assembled LED color-changing orb-things and I'm pretty sure they're the coolest objects I have ever owned. I cracked 'em open, and damned if I know what is going on in there, but it looks simple/cheap as all hell. Help me figure it out, I'll post a build-log/parts list somewhere, and in short-order we can all be ass-deep in home-made, disarmingly sublime mood-lighting. [more inside]

What are the New York City "projects"? I often hear the phrase "The Projects" in TV and movies. I understand they are an area of somewhat low-cost housing, and that it tends to be an "unsavory" neighborhood, but not terribly so.
My question is, what exactly does it mean for something to be a project. Why are they there, how did they get there, and what does it mean today? Google and Wikipedia have been of little help. [more inside]

Project Managers! What software / systems do you use to manage your projects. It seems to me that Microsoft Project or Basecamp is not always the right tool for the job. I am interested in creating work breakdown structures and sequencing activities in a visual manner. I want to track and manage requirements, changes, risks, issues, etc. I want to baseline my requirements, my schedule, and my budget. I want to capture work activity and generate reports. What software should I be using to be a superstar project manager? What is your system for capturing and disseminating information?

I have an entire year of semi-boredom ahead of me. What projects can I do in this time period, that are substantial, inexpensive, can be done on the side whilst attending college, and will help me avoid looking back and regretting a wasted youth? #1) HAPPY MUSIC: What music do you use to cheer yourself up?
A friend of mine has clinical depression. I am gathering recommendations of happy music so I can make a playlist of tunes to help uplift and revive downcast spirits.
#2) AMBIENT SOUND: what music you listen at work to help create some good background music to help you concentrate on your tasks?
#3) INSPIRATION: What do you listen to, to revive your energy and get you pumped up to work on that otherwise annoying project?
