Does any one know how to find the most common result for a column returned from a mysql select request?

So I upgraded from warty warthog to hoary hedgehog and something broke PHP on my box. Any ideas as to where I should look to fix this. I already have: DirectoryIndex index.html index.htm index.shtml index.cgi index.php and AddType application/x-httpd-php .php AddType application/x-httpd-php-source .phps in my httpd.conf file.
