I am trying to create charts in Excel and then copy them into Powerpoint. If I initially paste the charts with linked data, can I subsequently embed that data for sharing with others? Are there other convenient ways of sharing a Powerpoint file together with a linked Excel file? More tiny/related questions and details within. [more inside]
I have a question on how to set standards for an ambiguous process. Part of my job involves having my directs "body-shop" powerpoint/excel charts - i.e. organizing things on the page, making tables look nice, filling in / fleshing out commentary, etc. (I'm in consulting). How can I help them do this better? [more inside]
Is there yet a way to edit a PPT deck on iPad and then get it quickly onto a standard flash drive? [more inside]
Before writing this from scratch I'd like to know if something already exists. The need is for a server that accepts data, document type and an optional template id, and returns an MS Office doc (powerpoint or excel) containing the data, in the selected template. [more inside]
I work with a remote team that needs to edit office files (primarily documents and presentations) simultaneously, and we're collapsing under emailed file versions or multiple versions with updates saved to a shared drive. I am wondering if there are functional workflows for using version control software like Git to save and share files. I am not looking for Track Changes, which is still too limited for our use cases. I need a solution that supports branching and merging, not just saving binary files. [more inside]
How can I make beautiful Powerpoint slides like those in this example presentation, titled "Steal this Presentation"? I can't download the presentation as a powerpoint file, only as a pdf. I have no graphic design skills, so I was hoping to find a template or powerpoint file somewhere, so I can just borrow the fonts, layouts, etc. Thank you for any help or example presentations you can link me to!
Whats the best way to get a Kindle children's picture book into a format that I can display in Google Slides or PowerPoint? [more inside]
I need to put images of slides from a PowerPoint presentation into another document. However, the slides invariably look fuzzy in the new document. I've tried adjusting the pixel dimensions of the images on the PowerPoint export, adjusting the resolution of the images to match the physical size I need for the final document, but I haven't found the right combination. I'm going from a full slide to a 2.67x2 inch image. Help? Bonus points if it's a Mac answer.
I am attempting to make a powerpoint 'game' (a tutorial that should be fun) using screenshots of Outlook 365. I cannot seem to size my screenshots to the correct size to work with powerpoint. I am sure I am missing something but I have no idea what. [more inside]
I often have to give presentations at offices I don't work at. There is usually some form of AV equipment available, however, the local staff often don't know how this equipment works. Cables are not necessarily plugged in where they should be (or even there at all) and there are no on-site IT staff to help out if there's a problem. What do I need to a) know and b) buy to be able to waltz into a new office, hook up the doohickeys to the whoozawhatzits and deliver a PowerPoint presentation (or show a video) with a minimum of fuss? I have a set of 800+ powerpoint decks. I'm looking to identify which ones have certain search terms -- say, "aardvarks" or do not include certain terms -- say, "tigers". Ideally, I'd get an excel spreadsheet with the file names and how many times "aardvarks" appeared, and another list of file names where "tigers" did not appear. Is there a tool to do this so that I don't have to open all 800+ individually?
I will be having a job interview that requires me to have some knowledge of Excel. I know this is vague but it includes, I presume, filters, hlookup, vlookup, and establishing filters to search out education data. The interview is to get a data analyst fellowship in the education setting. [more inside]
I'm trying to send a Powerpoint file to a client, and their corporate security settings are making things difficult. The file is too big to email, even if I split it into fewer slides. Their security prevents them from downloading a file from Dropbox (and presumably similar services). Their email server also blocks zip attachments. [more inside]

I am at a loss for this. I am trying to merge two PowerPoint slides for ease of transition at a conference. Speaker A is using Speaker A's work template that has their work logo burned on each slide, but Speaker B is from a different institution. Is it even possible to merge the two sets of slides without having Speaker A's institution on Speaker B's slides?

I'm teaching in large classrooms where the blackboard isn't visible from the back rows. I'd like to draw and write on slides while they are being projected. Saving the annotated slides for later distribution would be nice. I'm using a macbook and am thinking about buying a Wacom tablet. What hardware/software/technique combination works for this? I am using PowerPoint 2010 on a PC. Normally when you insert an image then crop it, you can click on the image while the crop handles are still live and drag the image around, then reposition it within the crop, before actually applying the crop. But it's not working like that anymore! [more inside]
I am looking for a usb or bluetooth device that I can use to control Powerpoint/Google slides AND iTunes. [more inside]
I want to create multi-page content consisting of text + spoken-word-audio, viewable on iPhone. Content consumption would work as follows: 1. Page displays text and plays audio (additional tap to launch audio would be okay) 2. User taps something to call up next page. My first thought was Powerpoint, but I haven't found an iPhone app that handles audio embedded in PPT. I'm limited to working on my Windows PC, so I think Keynote is out. Any thoughts on a format to use for the content, and app to use to consume it? [more inside]

I will soon be starting a project/new job that requires better Microsoft Office skills than I currently have. I've used Outlook, Word and Excel in a fairly basic way for years, but need to come to grips with some of the more sophisticated elements of those programs. Plus, I need to learn how to use Powerpoint and Visio, which I've never touched. Yikes. Can you recommend some good online tutorials? I am also considering doing a paid course (online or otherwise) if I can find one based in London that's not too expensive or a rip-off. Can you help?
I am in charge of developing a series of presentation slides for a facilitated train-the-trainer session, and the trainers (both levels) need to have the ability to use the slides afterwards. While I have access to Apple Keynote or OpenOffice Impress to make these slides, I can't assume that the trainers will have anything other than Microsoft Powerpoint. Which product should I use, and what "gotchas" do I need to watch out for in terms of feature incompatibility? [more inside]

I have spent the last 3-4 hours trying to embed a video from Windows Movie Maker into a power point (yes, I am that inept at computers!). I keep getting this message when I try to insert it: "Power Point cannot select a video from the selected file. Verify that the necessary codec for this media format is installed and try again." I've followed link after link and am really tired. Help! [more inside]
I have never made a powerpoint before. I have to make 6 slides for class. How to I get a nice background and make charts- pie charts, etc? Either explain like your are teaching your mom, or links to a sites that will literally walk me through it! Thanks!!!
I'm preparing a presentation and I know that the projector available is quite bad, and the room where I will give this presentation doesn't have proper blinds so it's relatively bright. My slides are very simple, white background, black text, and a third colour for some highlights. I wonder: does the hive mind know what this colour should be in order to be really visible and actually highlight my stuff, given the aforementioned conditions?
I will be giving a talk at a job interview, about scientific research that I did several years ago. The powerpoint slides use the (somewhat gaudy) template of my former employer, the institution that funded the research. Should I keep the template or change it? [more inside]

I have to put together a PowerPoint presentation for an upcoming conference and am bored by the Microsoft templates. Can anyone recommend free/Creative Commons templates that look awesome and aren't seething with malware?
Does anyone know of a good site or software that is free or cheap that lets you: 1) Ask a poll or multiple choice question during lecture and, perhaps, in the next slide, populate a graph with the results? Again, thanks in advance for any good links here. [more inside]
I'm troubled by a mysterious bug on my MacBook Air. It manifests itself when I use Microsoft PowerPoint, but I believe it is a Mac-wide issue. It is extremely rare, impossible to reproduce on demand, and yet - when it strikes, it does so with a vengeance, and embarrasses me in front of a theater full of people. [more inside]

I need a macro to check each slide for the existence of several command buttons, and then copy/create them (along with the code behind them) on slides where they're not found. I've tried using the object browser to find the objects/methods to use but, not being very familiar with programming/coding, I haven't been able to figure out how to do it. I tried using a master slide but ran into problems (discussed here: http://www.utteraccess.com/forum/VBA-Import-Slides-Pl-t2002862.html&pid=2355756#entry2355756), but I really need this soon and I'd be happy to run this macro manually whenever I add/import slides. Thanks for your help.
I have read that John Walkenbach's books are the de-facto standard for learning to use VBA in Microsoft Excel. I'd like to know what books are recommended to learn to use vba in other Office products - primarily Access, but also Word and Powerpoint. I'm more interested in books than in websites.
I have a slideshow with 4 sections named "CurrentSection", "NextSection", "AfterNextSection", and "AfterAfterNextSection". The slideshow is viewed repeatedly but also irregularly (sometimes multiple times per week and sometimes weeks in-between). After each slide is viewed and discussed, I need to be able to assign the slide to a different section. (A slide's section determines how soon it will be viewed again, as explained below.) I have a PowerPoint presentation with macros for sound, in a .pptm file with audio and animations for a class. My professor can't play it as is, so she wants me to convert it to a flash file format, which I thought I could do, but all the converter programs I've found need a PC, and I only have a Mac and so does my family. Naturally, my school's PCs don't allow installs, and I need to figure this out today. I have Adobe Flash, but it doesn't recognize the format, and I need to keep my audio/etc. any ideas for conversion or online viewing, etc? [more inside]
