Can I damage my laptop by using a power adapter that has a slightly higher wattage than the original adapter? The original adapter was 65W, and the aftermarket one is 70W. The voltage is switchable. My original adapter had a voltage of 18.5V, this one says that if I need 18.5V, I should choose 18V. Any chance of damaging the computer by using this one? [more inside]

Help! My puppy just bit through my Apple MagSafe cord and now it doesn't work. I don't want to give Apple another $80. Has any MeFite (or anyone else) successfully spliced one back together?

One of the rooms in my apartment has no ceiling lighting, so I'd like to hang a fixture (paper lantern, very lightweight) from the ceiling. There are no power outlets on the ceiling. Is there an artful and attractive way to snake the power cord for this light up the wall from the outlet, onto the ceiling, finally leading to the fixture? The ceiling is 9 ft high, the cord is fairly long, extension cords are OK, and the light will be placed in a location that is maybe 4 or 5 feet away from the wall, and 2 or 3 feet from the ceiling.

I have a 350 watt antec power supply that whines when I pull the plug. If I turn it off and back on 3 or 4 times, the whine goes away and the computer boots. The whine is coming from the PC Speaker. I should know better and get a new one, but do I run the risk of damaging my components by using it? If the plug stays in the computer will turn back on.
