ISO sized poster frames in the US?

Where can I buy an A0 (1189 x 841 mm) sized poster frame domestically? I am fortunate enough to have two of these bad boys hanging on my wall:
http://shop.eboy.com/collections/poster

There seems to be a baffling scarcity of North American suppliers who deal in ISO sizes. International shipping from .uk and .au stores, or having it custom-framed locally, are both stupidly expensive.

I'm looking for a run-of-the-mill snap poster frame, the kind with a backing, plastic sheet over top, and thin metal / plastic brackets that slide or snap on. Nothing fancy, just need to take it off pushpins to prevent further damage.

Looking for a print of Schinkel's 1815 'Starry Sky' from the Magic Flute

I'm looking for a print or poster of this image. The artist is Karl Friederich Schinkel and the painting is an 1815 stage design for the Queen of the Night's big aria in The Magic Flute. The painting doesn't have an official title and is usually referred to either just as "stage set for The Magic Flute" or "Starry Sky". The painting is held at Stiftung Preußischer Kulturbesitz, Staatliche Museen Berlin, but they don't seem to sell prints on their website.

I would prefer to buy from a UK seller, but I'd be okay with buying from anywhere as long as it can be shipped to the UK (as long as the postage rates aren't outrageous).

The original is about 46cm x 62cm (c 18" x 24"), and I'd like something on roughly the same scale. Ideally, I'd like to pay no more than £50 including shipping but could stretch a bit for a particularly nice reproduction.

I've found several places that will paint a reproduction to order, but it's a pretty pricey option (c $275 for the size I want) and I'm not sure whether the quality would justify the price.

Gestalt Prayer Poster

Help me find a poster with the Gestalt Prayer (in its entirety) on it! The Gestalt Prayer:
I do my thing and you do your thing.
I am not in this world to live up to your expectations,
and you are not in this world to live up to mine.
You are you, and I am I, and if by chance we find each other, it's beautiful.
If not, it can't be helped.

I've seen this and this, but both are missing the last sentence.
Where to find a good weight chart for the kitchen?

I'm looking for a poster showing the weights of various commonly used ingredients. I like to use my kitchen scale when cooking because it makes cleanup so much easier, but most of my recipes are American and show measurements in cups, not ounces. I'd like to have a poster in my kitchen that showed things like:

1 CUP SUGAR = 8 OZ
1 CUP WHITE FLOUR = 4 1/4 OZ
etc.

Basically this, but pretty enough to put on the wall. Either ounces or grams is fine. Anybody seen an attractive chart like this?

How to inexpensively hang posters?

I have some posters that I would like to hang up, but they have been damaged through poor handling in the past. Are there inexpensive yet non-tacky (no pun intended) ways of hanging them up? It seems like a shame to spend a lot of money to frame posters which are themselves damaged. And they'll probably get damaged further next time I move. On the other hand, I'd rather not turn my apartment into an overgrown dorm room by using thumb tacks or Blu-Tack to hang them up (which would, of course damage the artwork further). And I'm also tired at staring at bare walls.

One of the posters is 20 in × 27 in, and the other is 11 in × 17 in.

I would prefer to avoid solutions that require the use of fine motor control in a way that will result in irreversible damage if done incorrectly (such as gluing or cutting), or purchasing new tools. On the other hand, I guess this stuff is already damaged so it can't be that bad.

Another solution would be to simply cut off the damaged areas of the posters or place matting over them. If I went this route I would want to have a professional do it—does this make sense?

I live in Seattle. I would need to rent a car to get to Ikea, greatly increasing the cost of any Ikea options. I live conveniently near a Museum-Quality Framing store.

Bonus question: How I can quickly, inexpensively, and easily add some more decoration to the place? There are about a zillion options out there and trying to decide the optimal solution results in paralysis. I could start buying posters to support the small bands whose shows I see but it seems weird to have posters from bands I'm not fanatical about adorning the place.

Quickie one-sheet movie poster?

A film festival accepted my little short, and now I need to come up with a one-sheet movie poster really, really fast. But I don't know what this involves. Just wondering, is this something I can whip on Photoshop and then have printed at Kinkos? Are there any short-cuts if I do so? I don't have time to send away to an Internet service for one. Any help much appreciated.

Why was the spider removed from the Arachnophobia movie poster?

Why was the spider removed from the movie poster for Arachnophobia between the theatrical release and the video release? When this movie came out in 1990, I remember the movie trailers and promo material having a single spider dangling in front of the moon. Apparently Wikipedia confirms this. But when the video came out, and for all promo material after, the spider was removed as I've found for reference here.

I vaguely remember there being some interesting story about why this happened, maybe a lawsuit or something, but I can't seem to find any reference to this fact.

It seems like everybody just overlooks the fact that a picture of the full moon doesn't really have anything to do with spiders.

Does anybody have any info about why specifically the video cover got changed?

Clever poster to put in a home studio

What should I put on the wall in my new home studio? I just moved my home studio to its own room (yay!) and there is an empty wall right above my screen that needs to be filled. I was thinking of a poster of a guitar chord chart, scales or the circle of fifths, which seems kind of lame. (I know most of these things by heart.) Alternatively it might be something in the spirit of Faerie's Aire and Death Waltz.

Can you think of something clever (and possibly helpful as a reference) that I might put there?

What's the best way to protect a poster at a concert?

What's the best way to protect a poster at a (general admission) concert? So I'm going to a show tomorrow night and I'm planning on buying a poster. The thing is, the show is all general admission, so the chance of the poster getting mangled is somewhat high. I'm not going to be in the pit by any means, but I'm being paranoid.

Obviously bringing a poster tube is the best way of protecting it, but I'm not really sure that the venue is going to let me in with one. (I'm going to call tomorrow to ask, but...)

So aside from a poster tube, what would be the best way to protect my poster for the few hours I'm at the show?

What is this poster, seen hanging on the wall in this ad? The poster tagline reads,

They're young . . .
They're in love . . .

The poster appears to be either a movie or Broadway show poster, circa mid-1950s to early 1960s.

The ad is K-Y's "Shocked".

If a pig was running for office, what would his/her slogan be? I am having some art made for some colleagues' and my offices. Since we work in politics and animal agriculture, I thought it would awesome to have campaign posters of the 7 major species running for office. They can either be running individually or as a pair - such as a chicken and turkey running on the same ticket. Now I am looking for campaign slogans.

Here is the list of major species.

Dog
Cat
Cow
Horse
Pig (Bringing home the bacon?)
Turkey
Chicken (A me in every pot?)

Preferences:

While these may be in a professional environment, I am not averse to making a couple extra for my house, so no limits on common decency.

Bonus Question: Every other animal is considered (by the FDA) to be a minor species. What would be the funniest animal to be "the voice for the minority"? A llama? A gold fish?

Thanks in advance, and have fun!

I'd like to print a very small run of posters (maybe 15 each of 6 or 7 different, related designs) soon. What's the best way to go about this? The posters are still concepts at this point, though I imagine I'm going to draw them and then manipulate them on the computer. I'd like either to have a printer do them, or to do them myself, but if I do them myself, the method needs to be very inexpensive. I do not have a budget to go out and buy more than, say $15-20 worth of supplies.

These posters will be displayed in an art show, so they need to look good (i.e., I'm not looking for the rasterbator).

Looking to purchase some awesome linguistics-related posters. I've searched for hours on the internet and I can't seem to find any family tree posters, IPA posters, or even anything remotely related to linguistics that is interesting and somewhat academic. It would be cake to find something like the "History of Programming Languages" poster, but for Indo-European languages or some other branch of the world tree. I'm tempted to just make a language tree poster myself, but that'd be a LOT of work.

Also, any ideas to spruce up a giant bulletin board and/or small linguistics 'lab' room are welcome.

I have a large and beloved collection of People's History posters. Last year I had them mounted on thin foamcore (thinness illustrated here), thinking that would lengthen their lives, but I cannot keep them on my walls. So far I've tried two systems: 1) I put small nails above and below the posters, holding them in place between the nails. When the weather changed, almost all the posters shrunk or warped a bit, and dramatically fell from the walls. Next, I tried 2) these circles that spike into the foam (like these), and they still inexplicably just fall off the wall, leaving the spikes attached to the wall.

So, what's the best, affordable way to attach these fairly lightweight posters, without excessively scarring my rented walls?

Thanks!

1-to-N, a single photo file to many pages

How can I print a high-res photograph as multiple pages? I saw a website on here recently that I can no longer find. The website allowed you to upload a photograph. It then returned a multi-page PDF that you could print. You could hang all of these photos on the wall and create a HUGE poster. What is this website?

The website I recall had an online and an offline version of the program that you could use.

"multiple images"
"poster"
"collage"
all turned up nothing.

Thanks a ton, metafilter freaks.

Hello Minnelli

How can I make a poster out of a coloring book page? So I've got a picture that I very much want to have on my wall, because clearly I have no taste. What I have is very simple, thick line art on crappy coloring book paper, at about 24x18 inches. What I want is a pretty, colorful poster using the original line art, suitable for framing and for making my house that much more tacky. How do I get from point A to point B?

Here are the obstacles I know about:

I never learned to color between the lines, so I would need someone to produce a color image for me, and I don't know anyone with that skillset.

It's a copyrighted image, and although this would be strictly for my personal use, that might make whoever I'm working with balk. That includes either whoever turns the line art into the image or the shop that prints the print.

It would be neat, though not strictly necessary, to add embellishment around it--background, borders, whatever. Ideally, I think I'd want to end up with something any Red Robin would be eager to have on its walls. I don't know how to find an artist who could do such things.

Even if I were to enlist an actual artist, I'm half convinced that they'd be insulted at what I was asking for.

I have no idea what getting a poster or print or whatever created entails, even if I had a finished image to work with.

Here's a variant (in hideous colors) of the image I'm after, just so you understand how refined a sense of artistic merit I have.

Can someone with experience in these kinds of things help get me started?

Looking for a copy of the Enchantment Under the Sea poster that was in Back to the Future. It's where they kiss for the first time... Back to the Future is my favorite movie of all time, without question. I recently moved into a new home and I want to do some tasty decorating in my office. Unfortunately, I am not a fan of movie posters, too obvious. But I would like to have something from Back to the Future up on the walls. I thought the Enchantment Under the Sea Poster might look pretty cool. However, I cannot find one for purchase anywhere.

I have searched a few places on the web - and if all else fails, I am not opposed to making it myself - but a replica of some sorts would be the bees knees. Anyone have one or know where to find one to buy?

Thanks in advance for your help - even if this doesn't exist, suggestions as to other things I could put up would be welcome (even consider things from II or III).

I need help with this creation.

I have invented a calendar that I think is unique in design and function. Last year, I spent six months reviewing copyrights and patents (and applications) from the US Patent and Trademark Office and US Copyright Office office and didn't see or read anything that fits it. I've since filed for a patent and a copyright. I'm told I'll get one or the other since it is either art or a device, but not both.
I think its design is to the standard calendar as the Reverse Polish Notation Calculator is to the standard calculator. I mean, it's initially confusing, but once you get used to it, it's much more efficient. To me, this means it would only appeal to a niche market, but probably a strong and loyal niche market - engineers, actuaries, event planners, etc.

My main question is, how can I get it printed for distribution and in front of my niche? I frequent a lot of thrift stores, and last week, barely missed buying an HP Large Format Printer for under $100. The office supply stores and online printers, by contrast, charge about $8 per sq. foot for the kind of color it has. And because I think it must be at least wall poster size to be of practical use, that makes the cost of each one nearly $70. That seems to much forthe market to bear. Does anybody know how I can reproduce this and get it circulating (and among whom) in the market, either by finding a cheap, large format printer or a cheap means for digital or offset printing?

Where was Shepherd Fairy interviewed?

In the article regarding the AP demanding compensation for Shepherd Fairy's appropriation of a photograph of Obama for the "Hope" poster, it says:

"I donated an image to them, which they used. It was the one that said "Change" underneath it. And then later on I did another one that said "Vote" underneath it, that had Obama smiling," he said in a December 2008 interview with an underground photography Web site.

Which underground photography website would that be? Googling the quote, or variations of, only brings me this news article.
