I tried this last week but got no response, so I'm going to ask again in a somewhat more general way. I'm looking for a good photo printer that is reliable, takes lots of different paper sizes, doesn't cost a ton, and is relatively cheap to run. [more inside]

I have some artwork that I want to put on coffee mugs for friends. Though I see a few DIY sites, I am not sure what resin to use to hold up in microwave so would like your recommendations on commercial sites. I may eventually do bulk orders if I decide to sell so if you have any recommendations that would be different for bulk orders, I am game for those suggestions as well. Vistaprint was around $20-25 after all was said and done.
Thanks, and enjoy your weekend.

I found this
photo on a blog a few months ago.
I have been looking for a larger higher quality version and or the name of the photographer to find out if I can purchase a print.
This is what I know.
It is from West Side Story
It appears a number of times on the internet, all small pixel sizes
The photographer is NOT Ernest Hass or Phil Stern (the two photographers who were present taking photos at some stage on the production of Westside Story)
Thanks, this one baffles me. When I have time I will go to the Motion Picture Academy Library (I live in Los Angeles) and see if I can find out anything more, but until then I thought I would let Mefi rip on it!)

What is the best color printer for the following use case: photos up to 5x7 of patients pre/post operation. The images will not be used for diagnosis so there is no requirement for ultra-high-quality, but the images must still be decent. Must be Mac compatible. We cannot use a professional lab as the images will be confidential.
Not sure what kind of spend is required here but I'd be surprised if there wasn't something suitable under $500.

Is there a term for the type of portrait that contains two angles of the same person's face in the same photo? I'm thinking of this style
(Will Ferrell). Another example here
These were really popular in the 70s and 80s.
I want to get one of the style portraits taken but I don't even know how to describe it, or how to search for it. Does anyone know a name for this style, or even a way to explain it?
Also, have you ever seen it being offered these days, and if so, where?
I have seen these previous Askme's (1
) but they don't really help. Also my google-fu is useless except for that Will Ferrell portrait.

I have a very old photo of a family member, Edward Mackintosh, who died during the First World War in the Quintinshill Rail Disaster
. As far as I know it is the one remaining photo of him. Sadly it is in very poor condition. It is in a locket (photo
) and has adhered to the glass.
We're fairly certain that it isn't glued, but it has been worn my my Mum for many years and has suffered dampness and perfume etc, which has caused it to stick. I'd really like to take a good quality (or best possible) scan of the photo to give to my Grandfather. Is there any way to achieve this? Ideally I'd remove the photo from the glass so I could take it to a local photo shop for scanning. But if that's the wrong approach I'm happy to take advice!

My fiancée and I want to have our engagement photos done. Rather than pose in front of scenic backdrops, we'd like to have photos taken in front of a green screen, then have vistas from video games that are special to us inserted behind us. For instance, in the finished product, we're in front of the castle from Super Mario 64
or a Paris nightclub from Sly Cooper
. Is this something that professional photographers can/will do? I know there's green screen photo places, but will they add the game backgrounds that we provide? Are there licensing/copyright issues in play that will get in the way of this?

What do you call those images where each "pixel" is made up of a tiny photo
? Usually the subphotos are thematically related to the main image.
Extra special bonus if you can point me to software (how perfect would a GIMP plugin be? very perfect) that will generate one using a pile of images (cheating by adding tints to individual images is totally fine for these purposes). [more inside]

Hi there, I'm teaching my Dad in China to use his Chinese App Store account - His iPhone and iPad Mini are his MAIN cameras these days, and he loves taking photos. I'm a bit rushed as I have to leave China soon, and don't have to time to search through Chinese app reviews (I don't know Chinese well anyway). So, please can you recommend any iPhone and iPad camera and photo apps (paid or free) available on the Chinese App Store that you love. Impressive apps are good; Impressive AND easy to learn and use apps (my Dad is not very tech-skilled and doesn't like complicated instructions) are the greatest. Thanks very much for your tips!!!

I'm starting an online clothing store and am hoping to put together a spring lookbook in two weeks. We're trying to find someplace pretty, like a park or community garden, where it won't cost us to shoot. It would also be nice if we didn't have to get a permit. Brooklyn is preferred, but we're open to anywhere it's easy to reach by subway.
It's probably going to be 4 people (the photographer, the model, the makeup artist, and me). Equipment will include the camera, tripod, possibly a pop-up changing station, a rack of clothes, and possibly reflectors.
Suggestions for locations would be much appreciated!
