I have a 50,000 word medical thesis to write. I don't want it to end up looking like a big ugly Word document, just printed out on A4 and bound. I would like some graphic design inspiration/tips for making it look more like a real book, which would actually be a pleasure to pick up and read.

I'm 21, living in London, UK. I just got a first class BA in sociology of education with philosophy. I'm already starting to think what to do after my Master's degree (still in the sociology of education).
If the planet's the limit,
what are the best places to do a PhD in the sociology of education? (And is my envy to do it at somewhere like Harvard or Stanford worth pursuing?)
Bonus points if you've been there yourself and share a slice of your experience!

Background: I am 41 years old. I am 16 credits shy of graduating with a BS in Mathemathics. my GPA is 2.79, I have over 250 hours of attempted coursework, 144 of that is being counted towards my degree. I program and design software systems for a living.
The Problem: I really love math and computer science but I am lousy at learning. when I say lousy I mean slow.

I'm looking for information for applying to grad school while abroad. (PhD programs in Political Science/International Relations). I graduated from college in spring 2006, and I'm planning on applying next year (Fall '09) to start in Fall 2010. I'm also considering going to Israel in July and staying for about 10 months, and I want to make sure this won't impact my grad school plans in any way.

What schools other than
Pacifica offer a Ph.D. program in comparative mythology? My Google-fu has failed me. I understand that certain institutions offer interdisciplinary studies that can be bent in the direction of mythology, as can certain programs in English. But I can't seem to find any that offer the richness of mythological courses found at Pacifica. Surely that isn't the only university out there!

I am a fourth year Computer Science Ph.D. student, ABD, and am hopefully going to graduate summer next year. I have started up on the job process in the academia for a professorship (a bit late I guess - it’s December already). I am still in the semi-early phase of application: got done with the CV embellishments and the research & teaching statements, asked everyone to be ready with my reference letters, and am on the verge of selecting and sending out applications to about 50 universities of the 100 in the list I put together from postings on
Chronicle and
ACM Jobs.
At this point I am interested in any advice I can get on this whole apping process, specially this part before the interview.
If it matters, I am specializing in multi-agent systems (though I have done work in almost every major field in CS) and hopefully move to east coast.
