Where is a good place in the Poconos to rent 2-3 adjacent cabins near a lake in the Poconos? Needs to be kid/family friendly with full amenities including AC and kitchens. [more inside]
We're headed to a conference in Cleveland, and giving ourselves a full day to explore and enjoy the roadtrip there. What magical treasures and delicious treats lie along Rte 76 through Pennsylvania and Ohio?
Short version: Bought a car with ex in 2012 with "and" instead of "or" between our names. MISTAKE. Refinanced the car loan with a new lender a little while ago and was told by that lender that all I needed to do now was to record the lien with the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation and I could worry about updating the title later. They even gave me a pre-filled form to record the lien I just needed to sign and turn in. Unfortunately, PennDOT is not having it. What is the best way to proceed? YANML. [more inside]
Part of an upcoming weekend trip will involve us leaving the Poconos area in PA off 84 (around Lake Wallenpaupack, PA) in the evening, stopping overnight somewhere nearby-ish. The direction we eventually want to head generally speaking is making our way west, then south on 81, towards MD/DC. Suggestions where to stop and stay along, perhaps in the Scranton + Wilkes barre area? [more inside]
Looking to switch home & auto insurance carriers. Where to start? [more inside]
Do I need to file taxes in as a nonresident in Pennsylvania? I have two small rental properties there, and they are exactly and weirdly balanced this year: +$XX and -$XX, net $0. File? [more inside]
A few friends of mine and I have a dream of buying a small plot of land in Eastern or Central PA and building a rustic cabin on it. I'm looking for some advice on where to even start looking for available plots and sources of information from others who have done something similar. Any ideas?
Around 1986, my family visited a Hindu temple or similar religious facility in the Poconos area of Pennsylvania. I remember that the path from the parking lot up the hill to the building was a stairway of huge stone steps, each of which was painted with a different design. Does this temple still exist? Where is it? Online photos of Arsha Vidya Gurukulam, the Jain temple Siddhachalam, and Sringeri Sadhana Center don't look like what I remember.
I have an interview in Norristown, PA later this week. I currently live in Oregon. Help me figure out if this would be a good move, and if so, where to live. [more inside]
Is there an example layout-template of this, including the attached memo to support the motion (I'm assuming that the memo to support a motion is FIRAC, too)?
I'll be driving by myself from DC to Erie, PA in a few weeks. I am terrified of driving through tunnels. Help me choose a non-panic inducing route. [more inside]
My partner and I are taking a 4-day, 3-night vacation over the 4th of July weekend somewhere in the Pennsylvania wilds...but seriously what is there to do in Pennsylvania besides visit this awesome dark sky park? [more inside]
In the midst of wedding planning and I am not sure how to resolve this particular issue. We finally found and booked a venue that we like and where we could bring in an outside caterer. Our caterer happens to be a BYO restaurant. Our venue allows us to serve alcohol but requires proof of insurance. Particularly, Host Liquor Liability insurance for $500,000. Since the caterer is a BYO, he does not have this coverage. How do I go about getting the required insurance? I know there are third party insurance providers. Is this where I should turn to? [Located in Philadelphia, the venue is a township owned building, the wedding date in Summer 2015]
Rental homes are few and far between where I live in Central PA. Click through if you might be able to answer some of my questions! [more inside]
Looking for a good neighborhood (safe, good elementary schools, cozy) in PA which will still allow frequent trips (mostly off peak hours) into NYC. Prefer to have option to drive or Mass Transit, either direct or drive + train. [more inside]
I will try to list all the main points to my question. I am getting confused as to what steps I need to take and which forms I need to complete. My parents own a car in NY. They want to give me the car as a gift. I live in Pennsylvania. I am trying to make sense of the title transfer paperwork and the affidvait of gift form. Has anyone done this before? If so, can you walk me through which forms I need to fill out? Do I need proof of insurance before I attempt to register the car? The car is currently insured through my parent's and I am listed on their policy. This is my first time registering a car and I don't have much experience with PennDOT. Not sure if this matters but I have a PA driver's license. Thank you!
My girlfriend lives in Buffalo. I live in Cincinnati. We are going stir fricking crazy not seeing each other for months at a time. We think a solution may lie in meeting in the middle. What is a nice town or city to spend a Saturday and Sunday in, for two mid-twenties chicks? [more inside]
I'll be going to Philadelphia at the end of this month for a very short, 2-day business trip and I'm leaving a day early specifically so I can visit the Barnes Foundation. I have some specific questions about the museum and other general questions about things to do on a short stay in Downtown Philly. [more inside]

A friend (no, really!) will officially be divorced next Monday, and will then own 50% of a residential property in Bucks County, Pennsylvania. The property has one house (that's basically a teardown), currently occupied by their ex (with no intention of selling), and one barn. The rest is undeveloped property. The property is in a great school district (Central Bucks). Is there ANY way they can sell my 50% stake in the property. They're wiling to sell at a discount and talk to developers, banks, private investors, whatever.
Asking for a friend: Where should we stop in our travels through western Pennsylvania and in Ohio? Can you provide recommendations on points of interest/eating spots/recreational areas? Are there any interesting fairs or sales happening? [more inside]
Driving from New Jersey to Cleveland in one day. Are there any sites worth seeing? [more inside]
Moving to a fairly rural section of Lancaster County (Paradise, PA, to be exact), where cable isn't available. *Sad trombone* I work from home full-time and will need reliable, fast internet. Suggestions, please! BTW, FiOs isn't available here (I checked) and it's been hard to get a solid answer on exactly WHAT internet services are out there, so alternatives are welcome. The last tenants here used a mobile hotspot, which was unreliable and slow, so I want to avoid that. Also want to avoid working from a coffee shop every day.
My grandfather was born in Pennsylvania to Italian parents during the 1920s in Lackawanna County / Scranton. I was able to obtain a new birth certificate from the PA Dept of Vital Records, but the last name was misspelled. When I called about this, they could only tell me that the mis-spelling "was what it said on the birth certificate". How do I go about seeing the original to get the mistake corrected? [more inside]
Mr. Kitty and I are pretty handy, but removing 100 layers of 100 year old paint from our cast iron radiators may kill us. Who can we pay to make this problem someone else's? [more inside]
I'm taking my two daughters to see my family and we're driving, from central Pennsylvania to New Orleans. Here's the basic route. Where should we eat? What should we detour to see? It'll be a two or three day drive. Help us plan it.
I'll be moving with my family (including two young kids) to the Lancaster, PA area in August. We'll be renting a place and I'd like to know the names of some good neighborhoods where we can concentrate our searches. In-town or slightly-outside-of-town are all okay (though I want to stay within a 40 minute drive of Middletown, where my husband will be studying). Important criteria: •Friendly neighbors •Relatively low crime •Good school zone is a plus •A cool neighborhood vibe is a plus

I'm looking to start backpacking/rough camping this year, and I've had a hard time picking a guide. Can you recommend a book (preferred) or a website for this sort of thing? I've done some not-so-rough campground camping before, but it was alway drive-in camping. We'd love to start off with over nighters and work our way up from there. We don't know what type of pack/tent/gear to get at all. Bonus: guides for the tri-state (Philadelphia-New Jersey-Delaware) area camping/packing would be nice, too. Thanks!
I need some gifts for my best friend that scream "Pittsburgh!". [more inside]

I need to entertain my 2.5 year old for several hours this weekend while my wife attends a bridal shower in Macungie, PA - which is right outside of Allentown PA, here's a Google Maps link of the area. Can anyone suggest an indoor playground or children's museum or something else that my kid might enjoy? Something within a 30 minute drive?
I'm trying to take a particular photo, so I'm looking for a clearing in a forest, that has a prominent tree by itself within that clearing (On top of a hill works too). [more inside]
East Coast Road Trip-Filter: a friend is having a very rough year but is finally taking three days (Aug. 24th - 26th) for much-needed road trip. She may not get to take another one for a while, so we want to make the most of it. My question: what can you recommend within a ~400-mile radius of Philadelphia (places, activities, events, gatherings, WHATEVER) that might be mind-blowingly memorable? The kinda stuff that makes you blurt, "Holy CRAP, this is AMAZING!"... the kinda stuff she and I can enthusiastically reminisce about for years to come. [more inside]
I live in a central Pennsylvania village that's almost 200 years old called Linden Hall. It was in the cellar of a home in our village that one of my neighbors found a bunch of old feed bags from the mill that used to be powered by the creek that runs through here. One of those feed bags looked like this. It uses this term "Chop." So we began to wonder why, if Chop was a type of feed, why did it had a protein and fat content label? And why are there horses on the bag? Was this actually livestock feed, or something else? [more inside]
I recently had some house guests stay with me for four months. They were not tenants. There was no lease, either written or oral. They did not contribute to the upkeep of the house; they bought no food, paid no utilities. They left behind a bunch of stuff. [more inside]

Car needs to pass annual inspection in Pennsylvania. Turns out I need $1000+ in repairs, and I paid $1400 for the car itself (valuable lessons about buying used cars learned). I can't afford this and it doesn't make sense anyway. I need a car. What are my options? [more inside]

I'd like to take my 85-year-old mom to Delaware Water Gap for a picnic on July 4th. Mom has mobility issues (is unsteady on her feet) so our picnic spot and the route to it needs to be as short and flat as possible and preferably paved. But I'd like to get as scenic a picnic spot as I can. Any recommendations? [more inside]
Looking at taking vacation in Southeastern Pennsylvania third week of June: Lancaster County (Amish), Gettysburg, Hershey, that area. We think we'll stay at a Four Points Sheraton in York using accumulated points, which puts us close enough to all of those things so we can hit any combination of stuff over the space of a week. Two adults, one 11-yr-old girl. Please share your first-hand impressions, suggestions, things to do or avoid. Thanks. [more inside]
