I want to rent an event space in NYC. Where do I start? It's basically a wedding reception without the wedding, I'd like it to hold about eighty people, with an open bar and using my own caterers. It should be three hours booked at least. I'd like it in Manhattan but totally open to nearer Brooklyn and Queens. What do I need to know and where should I go in getting a space for late October?

My housemate and I, and our across-the-hall neighbours, will soon be throwing a combined blanket fort party. If anyone has done something similar, do you have any tips for the logistics of actually constructing said fortress? We're thinking twine strung across rooms, secured at the wall by those little adhesive hook things, creating a frame for draping our linen - but there are worries about the strength of those little adhesive hook things. For reference, our apartments are 1920s Art Deco things with very prominent architraves (I think that's the word - skirting boards coming down from the ceiling, is what I mean) which we are thinking of using as our anchor points.

I don't like fancy dress parties but I have to go to one tonight. The theme is '18 certificate movies'. I would like to wear a suit, preferably my light grey pinstripe one, I don't like to wear ties. I have hair, medium length, that I can wear loosely or slicked back. Is there any character from an over 18 movie you can think of that, perhaps with some easy accessorizing, I can 'imitate'?

Ideas for bachelorette party in Providence, RI? I really wanted to do a group hot tub/ sauna thing but have not been able to find a place. I have a group of about 12 ladies. I love the outdoors, spas, games. It would be nice to do something intimate where we can talk and bond. Also, a low price point is important because the girls are all coming from out of town. Thanks so much for your help!

I'm throwing a small outdoor party tomorrow (25 people) and now there's rain in the forecast. It being graduation season, I don't want to spend all day calling party stores to find someone who can still rent me a tent. So, will a pop-up canopy
like this protect people from the rain or is it a waste of money?

Chicago caterer? Nope,
not for a wedding. Just a cocktail party not held at home. I've tried looking through the google (and reading the wedding boards anyway), but seriously, it's way too much information with no quality filter. Have you hired a local (to Chicago) caterer for a small event in the last year or so that you would recommend?

My friend & housemate has a big birthday weekend planned (London, Thursday – Monday). There's an itinerary, filled with lots of amazing things (spa days, aquarium, shows, etc.), but in the event that some of these places aren't wheelchair accessible, we need some back up events planned. What are some great places to go/see/party in London that are definitely wheelchair accessible, relatively easy to get to, and would be able to host a party of 3-8 people at the last minute with minimal hassle all around?

I am putting together a Seahawk Tailgate Party for a high school booster club auction. The party is for 20 people, on a Sunday Seahawk game. The party includes brats, buns, chips, cookies, beer, soda (to be delivered for a game day party) So far in the auction item, I have a 5L keg of beer, the Seahawks party goods, plates, napkins, tattoos. What else can you think of the make this item look great. Can you think of an interesting container for auction presentation? Looking for wow factor at a low cost. Thank you!

The stag is an outdoorsy forester who might like some outdoor stuff and also a huge reader. Any suggestions about nightlife, hotels, and other attractions would also be appreciated.

I'm planning a bachelor party in a few months. As a surprise for the "bar hopping" part of the evening, we plan to have a puzzle/scavenger hunt from bar to bar. Starting at our dinner location, there will be some puzzle or task that the bachelor has to perform to figure out where to go next (and maybe what to do there). For example: At one bar, he will have to try to buy a drink with Monopoly money. The bartender will know to give him his drink and also an envelope full of scrabble tiles, which he then has to unscramble into a name of another bar and.. well..
