Is there a PDA that can play an MP3 file and adjust its tempo during playback? Or, is there software for a PDA platform (Windows Mobile or Palm) that can do this? I'm looking for a PDA that can playback lecture recordings that are MP3 format and that can speed them up or slow them down on-the-fly. A bookmarking feature for the MP3's would be nice also.

I have an old Palm Tungsten C that I fried when I plugged it in in Kenya with a bad converter. I could never use it again, couldn't even turn it on, ever. I want to dispose of it, but there *was* sensitive data on it before it fried. Can you help me with the a) most enviro-friendly and b) data protective way of disposing of it?

I really like CMS systems such as Joomla and DotNetNuke that allow me to host information I want to access remotely (blog posts, news, serial numbers, etc...). However, since I have my PDA with me all the time and not my notebook, I would really like to use a CMS that I can access via my PDA. My screen size is 320x240 pixels. Most of the CMS systems I have ever seen don't translate well to a PDA screen. Are there any out there that do? I am looking for a system that I can host on my own servers. Thanks!

I realize that there have been variations on the "best PDA" theme before, but hopefully others will find this question (and it's answers) usefull: My wife wants a PDA for all the basic PIM functions, but also to occasionally browse the web via wifi (it's a lot easier to hold out of reach of our 1-year old son than her 20lb. Dell laptop). Do I have to plunk down $299 for a Palm Tx, or are there more affordable options? Do you have a favorite PDA (we're not wedded to any particular OS) that may not have built-in wifi, but can accept a wifi expansion card, perhaps coming out cheaper even with the xtra $$ for the wifi card? Obviously, a used one would be cheaper still - are there any 2003-4 models you would recommend for this purpose?

Better to-do list for Palm OS? The bult-in "tasks" is good for singular, date-based items, but is there anything similar to Ta-da Lists for the Palm? Ideally I want to be able to create multiple lists of to-do items ("Books To Read" for example) and have checked items move to the bottom of the list or disappear. My gf wants to buy a Blackberry. She knows zip about them and isn't that tech savvy. She's on a Windows machine at work and plans on getting a Mac for home in the future. I know lots about Palm devices but nothing about these things. What's all the advice you got on Blackberries? Models to avoid/ get, tricks to do with them, good sites w/ reviews, best places to buy, etc. Thanks!

I recall an application for the Treo 600 phone which allowed me to dump pictures from my phone directly to my Mac bypassing the built in route which only allows you to transfer images by emailing them. I think I saw it on Gizmodo or Boing Boing a while back, but can't find it now when I search. Anyone know what the name of this Palm application is?
