I'm on the lookout for suggestions for PDAs or similar devices for my father.
His short-term memory is going. While it used to be pin-sharp, it's becoming a real problem, to mitigate it he's been using a PDA - he's always carried one and was a real fan of the Palm series.
Now it needs replacing ... [more inside]

Is WAP dead? I have a limited budget to create wireless offerings for several websites which currently have none. Is it even worth investing the time and money into WAP versions in late 2008, or should I just focus on http web templates that are optimized for iphone/smartphone screens?

I have an HP iPAQ 2750. Around the same time it was manufactured, lots of aftermarket hardware and software came out with promises to enhance the device. One of those applications was a GPRS/GSM plug in modem (via the CF Card slot) and software from a company called Enfora. The modem was bundled with software from a company called BVRP. There was other software without a modem which also installed phone tools on the PDA from another company called WebToGo. [more inside]

Is there a PDA that can play an MP3 file and adjust its tempo during playback? Or, is there software for a PDA platform (Windows Mobile or Palm) that can do this? I'm looking for a PDA that can playback lecture recordings that are MP3 format and that can speed them up or slow them down on-the-fly. A bookmarking feature for the MP3's would be nice also.

What applications (freeware preferred) to people usually load up on their Windows Mobile (5.0) devices?
After many years getting by with a regular cell phone, my company recently switched me to an iPaq (6955). While I dislike the form factor a bit, I like the option of extending functionality with new programs. I just added Google Maps for Mobile, One Note mobile and will soon add MyLifeOrganized mobile (the non-freeware task mgmt tool I use).
Any other recommendations?

I've just changed mobile 'phone provider to T-Mobile's Web'n'walk Max, which allows me 'unlimited' web access (up to 3Gb/month which is their 'fair use' limit). So, this means I can now listen to Radio 4 online (at 20.7Kbps live, I'm informed by my PDA) - but how much radio can I listen to before I exceed my limit (bearing in mind I'll be wanting to do a bit of surfing etc. too)?

Install files for older iPaq? I bought an HP iPaq rz1710 on eBay. It did not include the installation CD. For some reason, HP does not provide those files on its web site. There are one or two "free drivers" sites, but they seem to contain undesirable payloads.
Is there another, reliable source for these files?

I really like CMS systems such as Joomla and DotNetNuke that allow me to host information I want to access remotely (blog posts, news, serial numbers, etc...). However, since I have my PDA with me all the time and not my notebook, I would really like to use a CMS that I can access via my PDA. My screen size is 320x240 pixels. Most of the CMS systems I have ever seen don't translate well to a PDA screen. Are there any out there that do? I am looking for a system that I can host on my own servers. Thanks!

It occurred to me that I could probably find a used cell phone cheap that would be more useful and fun than my aging mono palm, and sync with my mac. I don't plan to use the actual phone to make calls, I just want a cheap calendar/camera/game doohickey. [more inside]
