I have a CD with mail archived from Outlook Express in .dbx files (misc.dbx, work.dbx, personal.dbx, inbox.dbx, etc.). It contains old reviews and resumes that I need details from. I now have a Mac (with Mail.app only) and I can't figure out how to open or convert them. I don't even need to import them into Mail--having them export to simple individual text files would be fine. I just want to be able to read the content. [more inside]

New keyboard problem. I installed a Logitech 3200 cordless keyboard which works perfectly in all applications except Outlook Express (which thankfully I use infrequently). OE does not respond to the keyboard in Create New Mail (or Reply). It accepts keystrokes in the dropdown menus such as help or Address Book, but not in Create Mail. No problem in Word, Notepad or any other application that I've tried. Any suggestions?

I just rebuilt a computer with XP Pro for a family member who got hit by multitudes of spyware. She uses Outlook Express but ever since the rebuild, the default email program keeps changing from Express to something else. Initially it was Outlook, as Office is installed, but since they don't use Outlook I uninstalled it and alas, the default email program switched to MSN Explorer or some such. Is there a way I can make sure Outlook Express remains the default program?

Microsoft continues to hijack my computer. Every time I get a new Windows update, it changes my default email client from Outlook Express to Outlook (I prefer OE) and my browser from Firefox to IE. [more inside]

I need to register Outlook Express as the default MAPI client so that when I right click a file and select "Send To: Mail Recipient" Outlook Express (not Outlook) opens and automatically attaches the file. How do I do it? [more inside]

OK - I just bought an iMac to replace our dying Windows machine at home. I've successfully moved over almost everything - email (thanks to emailchemy), bookmarks, contacts, calendar items, documents. But I'm stuck on one thing - how can I reproduce the groups of contacts from our old windows outlook express address in the OS X address book? I would rather not have to recreate them one address at a time if I can avoid it. Thanks!

Outlook Express v 6.00.2800.1123 hosed my inbox and all folders therein. Yeah, I know, use crappy software, reap crap, but I Want My EMails. Still have drafts, sent and deleted. Lots of tools to buy online, looking for one that's reliable, preferably free.

Yesterday my Outlook Express program would not launch, instead I received an error message. Today it seems to be working fine, except that all the mail in my inbox disappeared, including a gift certificate to Amazon.com. Any ideas?

E-MailAttachmentFilter.
I regularly mail out reports to about 30 clients via e-mail attachment using OutlookExpress for Mac Classic.
Unfortunately, the most elegantly simple way of doing this mailing--using the Resend Button doesn't work; I can't just keep each client's file report name the same, write-over the file and RESEND the same e-mail (I have to manually detach and then attach each report).
In otherwords, if, on October 1, I attached file SmithReport to an e-mail and send it to Smith, on October 15, I can't just create the new report, again name it SmithReport, put it in the same folder, and RESEND the prior e-mail; if I do, the prior attachment (report) will be sent.
Any ideas on how to RESEND the existing e-mail but automatically send the new report/attachment? Another e-mail program? The attachments are PDFs, but I don't think that matters. [more inside]

Now that M$ has ended further development of Outlook Express, I get the feeling I should line up an alternative. Now happens to be a good time for me to do this. Can anyone recommend a Windows mail client that's free & fast with filters/rules, spell check, and a halfway decent mail import/export? I'm actually already running Linux and MacOS on several machines already, so spare me those tips, thank you ;)

I use Outlook Express and sent an email to a large list of people. I used the "To:" field to send it to myself and the "Bcc:" field to send it to the list (so no person receiving it could see who else was receiving it.) Now I need to look back and see who was included on the "Bcc:" list but when I look at this email in the "Sent" Folder it only shows the "To:" field, even when I click "All Headers" in the View menu. Help!
