I am sincerely a disorganized person. I never know where my keys are and my wallet is often empty, due to the fact that I forget to get cash. I have four purses, and they usually never had what I want in them, including a pen. If I had a plant, it would probably be dead.

In general, I'm an individual who's got a good handle on adult stuff: paying bills on time, obeying parking regulations, etc. Once in a while though, when I get stressed out about something, my brain stops taking care of these basic maintenance tasks. Case in point: this week I had a big project due for work, and I lost my car keys -- twice. Anybody have tips for helping me hold onto my sanity in high stress situations and avoiding silly, expensive mistakes?

I finally went through my mountains of paperwork this weekend and got a nice little filing system up and running. I have an ungodly amount of old paycheck stubs. Do I need to save these? Do you save medical bills? What about old tax returns? Arghshshs!

I've finally lost track of my plans enough times where I need to start keeping a calendar. I'd like something that's easy to update on my phone and syncs with wherever else I'd use it (iPhone, iPad, Macbook). The entries will be pretty simple ("birthday party at Bob's house, 9pm on Wednesday", for example…don't really care if there's features beyond that). What do you use?

Hoping you can share some ideas or things you have observed companies do to energize and excite their organizations. Please note that ideas that work for young organizations like google may not work for me since I am trying to do this in a very traditional, large and old (over 100 years in business) organization.
One idea that comes to mind is hiring relatively younger employees for senior management positions. Perhaps having more team outings might help as well.
I would welcome any suggestions.
Thanks in advance!

Although it has long been a suspicion, I have every sign of having Adult ADD. I tend to do most of the things in the checklist (multitask without finishing many tasks, forget things, tons of lists and forgotten "helpful" notes, watch a movie in 10 minute intervals while doing 4 other things never to finish many movies, reading at current count 22 books, impulsive behavior -- well, you get the drift.) I am curious in the short run, what might have helped you with simple organization at work and at home. Feel free to share any tips and web sites. I hope to move on to some books (I have many checked out from the 'brary) but need a small step approach. My artistic side is keeping me sane and hopefully your tips can help me get a kick-start. (As far as medication, I am in consultation with a dr but want to try some diet/exerisie/organic things first. And yes, I abuse parentheses like nobody's business.) I am going through
this previous link as well.

I have attention deficit disorder primarily inattentive, am a professor who travels a decent amount, and have trouble with being organized about submitting my receipts for reimbursement. I believe that it is caused by a combination of basic and deeper-rooted problems, and was wanting to know what you do to be organized about correctly getting reimbursed. This includes systems that you use to ensure that you have everything, where you keep receipts, what specific kinds of filing systems you might use while you're traveling so that nothing is lost, anything electronic (either hardware or an app), or even just the odd things that "just work for you".

I do some developery-type stuff at work and the more complicated it gets, the less organized I am. I often find myself wondering why I did this or that or what I was trying to accomplish with it. I reuse a lot of the same functions and bits of code but I don't have a good system of keeping track of them. I know about commenting within code, and I do that, but I'm looking for a larger system of general best practices more than a specific solution.

I'm starting to get a few requests for speaking engagements and seminars, and I'm not quite sure what to expect on the business side of things. At the moment, these are private individuals who have a little experience with event planning, and know that I could draw a decent audience to a workshop. I'm a little unsure about how profits should be split between me and the organizer. I don't have a problem with the organizer making some money, but I'm the one providing the content, and I want to be fairly compensated. How does this generally work?

How do you make yourself go to sleep/do errands/be a grown-up when you have no responsibilities or schedule you need to keep? When I hear people say they loved a show and watched 3 episodes before bed because they had to work the next morning I laugh because if I love a show I might watch 10 episodes because I can.

On my work computer (Mac OS 10.7.5), I usually organize my projects by putting all the files related to a single project in a single folder. I try to give the folder a descriptive name, but sometimes this is difficult if there are two projects that are kinda similar. Is there a way (either natively or using some tool that I can download/buy) to annotate folders with a longer description?

She's really smart and retentive in exactly the way an awesome assistant should be... we're determined to get super organized as a team so I want to start off on the right foot and be able to focusing on monetizing instead of answering email all day. Here's my question: what are the best apps/sites/software nowadays to manage and document big workloads, contacts, meetings, tasks brainstorms, and overall projects and stay organized easily as a team? I know there has to be some great new stuff out there that I haven't heard of.
