Help me decide what to do with a new-to-me piece of furniture

I have had my eye on a piece of furniture from Ikea. A friend is moving out of town and getting rid of that piece of furniture so I said I would buy it from him, but I'd like to have a plan for what to do with it before I bring it home. [more inside]

Looking for the right iOS app to help organize my life

I'm heading to graduate school soon and I'm trying to develop good habits and a good routine in preparation for that change. Where and how do you store and organize cosmetics?

I have, at conservative estimate, a TON of makeup. Not a lot of big, oversized palettes (2? maybe?), mostly individual eyeshadows, lipsticks, blushes, pencils, mascaras, glosses. I cull through often for expired stuff, old stuff, stuff I don't use, but it still kind of takes over bathroom counter space. I have a couple sets of plastic drawers on the bathroom counter, and a segmented acrylic cup thing (for pencils and brushes), but it's still just a hot mess and I can't find things. I need advice and inspiration - how do *you* do it?

Help me organize my kitchen like a pro

The other day, I was at a restaurant where the chef cooks the food directly in front of customers. I realized that by watching her, I was able to observe certain things that I don't normally glean from recipes and cooking videos. I could see not only the techniques she used to cook the food, but also how she organized herself to make the process so efficient. This got me thinking of how I can organize my cooking for maximal efficiency, especially when preparing food for groups: [more inside]

Therapist or Organizer for a hoarding parent?

My father died a week ago and due to the present circumstances, I was able to get my mother to agree to see someone about her hoarding. She is willing to confront it and realizes it is an issue, but part of getting her to agree to this was me volunteering to find someone to help. I have found multiple resources and would appreciate any advice on who I should be contacting first about this. (Special Snowflake, yada yada, you know the rest) [more inside]

Multiuser password management for organizations

I'm looking for a secure method for storing a large collection of passwords for things like vendor websites, pieces of equipment that don't support multiple user accounts, and other situations where each employee of our company having an individual account would be impractical or impossible. Windows software to organize photos and videos by date taken

We have our windows 7 computer organized by user, and the folder system is a mess. I want to be able to browse photos, and videos, by one simple criteria, date taken. For example, want to see every picture and video on my PC That was taken on July 19, 2013. I don't want it to be tricked by the save date, the edit date, what folder it's in, or which camera was used. Only the date I snapped the shot. Fantastic would be some kind of timeline that you can very quickly scroll thru and it shows you some kind of date display where you're at.

Photo Organization with Visual Browsing Capability? Or Just Tag It All?

Tell me about California closets please.

Hi AskMe. I need to do something about the closets in my 30+ year old house. I would like a more efficient use of space both for the master walk in closet and the smaller bedrooms. Simple shelf + rod no longer cut it. I have no idea how to do that myself so I'm thinking of California Closets who seem to get a lot of praise online.
