There was a Olympic slalom event that Bode Miller was competing in (can't remember if it was Torino or Salt Lake City) which was notable because he kept falling and missing gates; but instead of just quitting, he would hike back up a bit and try again - I remember that he missed more than one gate and hiked up - anyone know where a video of that is so I can watch it again?

Why is it so difficult to find historical footage of past events which were, at the time, broadcast for free (for example, archival video of the Olympic Games and the Oscars)? Wouldn't the economic value of making these events available somehow (for a fee) outweigh their value sitting on a shelf somewhere, unwatchable except in tiny snippets or on very rare special occasions? Early in the summer, London 2012 released a hybrid animated / live action brand video showcasing their new Wolf/Ollins logo. It has since been scrubbed from the internet - I linked to a YouTube posting of the video that has been taken down (along with an excellent Save The Rave remix), and they've done a crack job of flushing it from the internet entirely. Apparently, there were health concerns. Help me find a copy of the original I loved so much!

What are the options, if any, for live video of the Winter Olympics online in the US? Having been able to watch CBC in 2002, I was spoiled, but this year it's back to NBC only. Worse, with the games in Europe this year, they will be showing everything that matters spliced into bite-size melodramatic bits, in between interminable ads and features, six hours after it actually happens. So, any options, licit or illicit?
