I'm looking for a cheap ($50 or less) PDA or cel phone that will sync with either Google Calendar or Ical. All I really want is the calendar/alarm, so when I'm not carrying my laptop I can be reminded of meetings.

My father-in-law replaced his old Mac Mini with a newer Mac, so he asked me if I wanted the Mini.
I've been a Windows guy for almost two decades (with a soft spot for Linux) but have never owned or used a Mac.
Being that it's an older Mini, based on the Motorola chip and not Intel, it's not going to be the fastest thing ever, I'm sure, but I figure as something that doesn't cost me anything it's as good a way to learn about Mac as any.
Seeing as I am a complete Mac virgin, I was wondering if those of you who know your way around Macs would give me a piece of advice.

The latest versions of Firefox
and Safari that can run on my Mac Intel G4 tower (OS X 10.4.11) keep crashing when I open more than one video in separate tabs or windows on YouTube or Hulu. The problem isn't consistent, but it does seem to happen when I have at least 7 or 8 tabs open at once. Can anyone help me solve this?

In OSX, say you have a folder that is often populated with subfolders containing RAR archives spanning multiple files named either in a format like filename.rar, filename.r00, ... filename.r10 or filename01.rar, filename02.rar, .. filename10.rar.
How would you create a folder action, be it mostly Automator, Shell or Actionscript or any other tool based, that would automatically extract the contents of these archives once (and only once) when they are added?

Is there any way for me to successfully download Adobe's 'Macromedia Authorware' program to a Mac OSX 10.5 operating system? (Recently upgraded from 10.4.11....I think).
I have tried several times, but when downloaded I click to open and end up with a text edit file. So not helpful to my school psychology experiments.
I've heard there is an online version of this software, but when looking for it I keep getting taken to Adobe's download page over and over.
Is there any way to simply downgrade and would this help?
I am technologically clueless so the simplest terms possible would be very appreciated.

Bizarre OSX Snow leopard problem. MBP unibody, 3.06 core2 duo. 8 GB ram. 500 Gig 5400 RPM drive. OSX 10.6.2
Starting about four weeks ago, my system slowly spins out of control - dock/finder/force quit become some of the first apps to fall. This ends in a freeze - UI responsive (mouse, some window movement) with the eventual need to force restart (holding down the power button) It's so bad that I'm constantly running the Console and Activity Monitor to see if I can find some clues.
