Give us your best travel deals for a fabulous trip this summer for 2 adults, two kids (one a 2 year old, one 11). We'd like to go for about 2 weeks in either July or August (restricted by school schedule). Our goal is to take our children out of the United States for their first time. I'm going to Nicaragua this summer for the entire summer, and I'm looking for the cheapest way to get there from NYC or DC, to Managua. I'll leave near the end of May and return mid-August. Besides Expedia and the usual set of online price comparison engines, is there a good source for cheap fares abroad? (are there student discount places?)

I'm very likely going to be at interning at an organization/studying spanish at a language school in Ocatal, Nicaragua next summer for roughly three months. Can anyone recommend some solid books on Nicaragua and Nicaraguan culture? I'd really like to shy away from any sort of guidebooks, i'm looking for something that isn't for vistors or people looking for a vacation...that seems to be what the majority of guidebooks are tilted towards.
