On Tuesday I'll be showing a new arrival to New York City around for an hour or so in the late afternoon. He's interested in the city's history, particularly the Bowery/Lower East Side. He has seen all the major tourist stops and I'm completely ignorant of the latest cool/interesting/weird spots downtown and most places have the lifespan of mayflies. Any ideas on how to prepare an awesome, emergency walking tour?

I'm looking for a job doing presentation graphics (in law firms, possibly financial firms); this is about 30% of my current job at a law firm. I'm one of very few "experts" at my firm which isn't very technologically advanced in this area, so I'm afraid that my skills won't cut it in the outside world. I need advice on how to upgrade my skills.

Where's the best place to watch the sunrise in New York City, preferably Manhattan? Since this is for my honeymoon, the more romantic the location, the better. :)

New York Hotels. I need to travel to New York at short notice for family reasons. For the same family reasons, our customary free downtown digs are not available. Are there any reasonable and reasonably priced hotels in the Riverdale area of the Bronx, near Henry Hudson & 238 St? Any other reasonable options between there and downtown would also be OK. Any suggestions welcome, thanks.

I am crazy-excited about
Mad Men season 3 airing this week. Unfortunately, my friends and I are frugal New Yorkers who don't get extra channels like AMC. Are there any bars in NYC that play Mad Men where we could actually hear the show? Or are there places where we could rent a TV and a room without going broke?

Some more 30s New York questions: Would a police detectve in 1930s New York be a uniformed or a nonuniformed role? In the 30s would there be such a thing as plainsclothes police outside of the feds? Are there any years in the 30s in which the New York summer was particularly hot? And, just to be totally random, what popular newspapers in New York in the 30s would have been giving favourable coverage to Hitler, and when would he have started being front page news?

I'm looking for blogs, photography collections, books, or landmarks I could search on that explore the seamy side of Central Park. I don't need links to specific crimes that happened there, or history timelines. Stuff from the 1980's would be absolutely amazing, but present day is more than fine. If I can't find what I need, how would I safely plan a daytime exploration of the non-touristy Central Park? I am not located in the New York area, but have visited the city.

My wife and I will be going camping for the first time with our new 5th wheel camper. We want to go to Watertown New York but are not exactly sure where to stop along the way. We know we want to make two stops before reaching Watertown, once in Virginia and once in Pennsylvania. In Virginia, we would like to stop near the Shenandoah National Forest - a site in the Southern, Middle, or Northern section would be good. In Pennsylvania, we would like to stay somewhere in between Harrisburg and Scranton. Both places we stop must have electricity. Does anyone have any suggestions on some good places to stop? Also, are there any RV Web sites you would suggest that provide listings of places to camp in these areas?

I would like advice on preparing for the New York bar exam. Realistically I'd write it July of next year. I definitely need a review course - I finished law school two years ago and that was Canadian law. I'm working (though a reasonable and flexible schedule) so I'd like a review that's somehow part time, or aimed for working people. I'm living in Brooklyn and working in Manhattan.
