I am in the city for business tonight and will be left to my own devices for dinner. I would like someplace where I can sit at a somewhat quiet bar, read a book, and eat a reasonably priced burger. Help me Metafilter, I am paralyzed with indecision. [more inside]
I'm planning to go to the Storm King Art Center (in New Windsor, NY) on Friday. I'd like to eat something delicious for lunch while I'm there or before I go. I can bring it from Manhattan (or anyplace in the city, I guess), but I would have to buy it the day before on Thanksgiving. Or, I could eat near the museum or near my hotel in Monroe. [more inside]
Asking for my wife, who doesn't have an account. My wife will be staying near Fort Greene Park in Brooklyn for about three weeks. She has a problem with gluten - trace amounts and cross-contamination are an issue. Looking for both dining and grocery shopping suggestions. She has relevant apps and online resources but not coming up with much to go on. Would love some local perspective. Thanks for any help you can provide.

If I wanted to eat only healthy prepared meals daily in NYC, what would be the best option to do so with as little thought, effort, and cost possible? Weight watcher's or Amy's frozen meals? Prepared meals and soups from Whole Foods or Trader Joe's? Nu-kitchen's expensive -- any cheaper but high-quality alternatives?

I am in NYC for the first time and I've done nearly everything that was on my list to do. The only things I am missing are a great slice of pizza (new york style, of course) and a bagel that will knock my socks off. For an added bonus, I'd like to do it on the cheap. I'm staying in Brooklyn, but the neighborhood isn't terribly important.

My wife and I live in New York City, but she's from the Deep South (Alabama). She's often miffed that when she goes to a grocery store in the city, she can't find food and treats that she grew up with (i.e. Goo Goo Clusters). I know you can order a lot of stuff online, but I was wondering -- since there are Korean grocery stores and Indian grocery stores (and even British grocery stores) in NYC -- is there a Southern U.S. grocery store? If not, is there a central website for ordering Southern food products (rather than multiple websites of various product manufacturers)?
Wow, there really is no good Mexican food in New York. Why? (more insidious). [more inside]
