We are planning on flying to LAX and rent a car from there and then drive to San Diego, LA, Yosemite, Lake Tahoe, Napa. We will be flying out of SFO.
Total time for the trip is 10 days including flying, from Aug 9'th to 19'th. (So 8 days)
Please suggest things to do, places to stay, good restaurants and any other advice. [more inside]

A few months ago, I booked an incredible deal on a flight to spend 4 days next week in or around San Francisco. Life got busy, and I still haven't made any actual plans for what we're going to do, or where we're going to stay. We've been to SF a few times before, and want to rent a car and explore the area surrounding the city this time around -- particularly to the North. Any budget-friendly suggestions? [more inside]

We're driving back from Harbin Hot Springs to the Bay Area on Monday (through Napa, Calistoga, Healdsburg, etc.) and we're looking for a place to have a reasonably priced dinner (though I know some places will be closed on a Monday). This means nicer than deli sandwiches but no Cyrus, no French Laundry, etc. Any recommendations?

Cheap wine county hotels/motels/ B&B's? I am planning a romantic getaway in August. We want to check out an area 1-2 hours away from San Francisco, and preferably in Napa or Sonoma. But, if you know of other romantic weekend getaways, we are open to exploring! We have been to hot springs that were also amazing. We are on a budget, but sifting through Kayak and hotels.com is a chore and not always accurate, so we would love your recommendations. Thanks so much!

Northern California wineries and B&B's in either 1) Amador/El Dorado wine country or 2) Napa/Sonoma (that won't break the bank)? [more inside]

I've booked tickets to San Francisco for a 4-day trip in mid-March. I am looking for advice on: (1) what Northern California area would be best to visit for a good mix of interesting activities and romantic/luxurious atmosphere (wine country? coast? city?); (2) good places to stay in $200-500 per night range; and (3) interesting things to do or places to visit. Valentine's Day filter:
My girlfriend has a relatively specific request for Valentine's Day: "an outdoor restaurant at a vineyard... that has an attached hotel." A somewhat cheaper version of this
would be the idea. Ideally, it'd be $300/night or less and somewhere within ~2 hours drive of Palo Alto, California.

Inexpensive Napa or Sonoma Wineries that can accomodate large groups? I'm taking a bus of 50 people to Napa (preferably Napa but we can do Sonoma) on a Saturday. The group in question will include people who don't make a whole lot of $$$. I'm looking for quality wineries (No Gallo or Mondavi!) that could take a group that large for a tasting fee of $5-$15. Bonus points if you know of a good place for lunch for a group that large.

I have a friend who wants to propose to his girlfriend in Napa Valley, CA in the spring. Any suggestions as to location? He is open to all ideas. Thanks!

A friend of mine, who cultivates an image as a mensch, is really a charlatan. He will do anything to be in favor, even if it means betraying his true nature: a gay man who is afraid of ridicule and exile. He moved to a very gay friendly city and his family followed him, to his misfortune. He is relying on me, his best open-minded friend, to set things right. I need some help. [more inside]

Looking for a caterer for a small dinner party at a house in Napa THIS weekend. Either Saturday or Sunday, 6-8 people, near Silverado, no dietary restrictions. What options exist, or where would be a good place to look?

As a gift, I'd like to be able to order Californian wine from a Napa or Santa Barbara winery (or anywhere) and have it mailed to a family member in the United Kingdom. (I live in Los Angeles) [more inside]

Mendocimo & Napa Filter
A friend is going to spend 2 nights in Mendocima, CA in November. Currently he's tempted by the Joshua Grindle Inn's water tower.
Anyone have any better/similar suggestions for some accomodation and also a place around Napa for a night as he heads back to SF? [more inside]
