Seeking a fitness expert who'll give me the info to exercise on my own

Power Computing on the Cheap

I’m currently taking a Revit class, and am eligible for full access to the program free for the next three years. But I also want to continue using the hard copy version of Adobe Creative Suite 5 I already own, and to a lesser extent Microsoft Office 8. My current computer is a MacBook Pro ca. 2009, running OSX.6.8. How do I make all these programs play well together on the cheap, and preferably on a single machine? [more inside]

NYC Neighborhoods Questions

I've been to NY dozens of times and enjoy exploring neighborhoods like the Village and SoHo where there are lots of shops, coffeeshops, restaurants, etc. I prefer independent shops over the corporate stores you'd find in Midtown. I haven't spent a whole lot of time in NY in the last 10 years so I'm not aware of neighborhoods that may have changed. I'm visiting this weekend please help me decide where to spend my time! Mice in apartment I'm subletting

Illegal eviction in NYC?

Hi all! I live in a 10-person "communal" house in NYC, and about 5-6 of my roommates are on the lease. I have lived here for 5 months. The lease is being renewed in July and my roommate have let me know that they have renewed the lease as a 9-person house and that they want me to move out in July. They are a communal house and I am kind of the extra person that they hoped would buy into their community model, but I am technically just renting a room. I think my room is illegal because it has no window, but previously the landlord wanted it filled. Is there anything I can do to keep my room? Is it legal for them to oust me due to not filling their expectations?

Is it worth it to buy a condo in NYC?

Is dating for men easier in SF or NYC?

I'm a 30-year-old straight single guy, debating a move to either NYC or SF. Singledom has been getting tiresome (after 6+ months), and I'd be interested in knowing whether dating would be substantially better or easier in one or the other city. I'm a slightly nerdy (but by no-means super-geeky) and fairly athletic/outdoorsy highly-educated professional. In either city, I'd be living in or near the urban center. [more inside]

Should we be using a Manhattan broker in Brooklyn?

We've been looking to purchase apartments with a broker based in Washington Heights, starting in upper Manhattan, but have now shifted to southern Brooklyn. In the neighborhood that we're focusing on now one brokerage seems to list 75% of the apartments for sale. Are we putting ourselves at a disadvantage because we're 1 - not using a broker from the area (though our broker is very nice and has been very helpful 2 - not just going direct to the local brokerage and asking them to represent us (even if they're the listing agents on a property)?
