Is there a bar or other space in Brooklyn, Manhattan, or Long Island City where I can reserve a private room with a TV for a get-together to watch the Olympic Opening Ceremonies? I am not looking to pay for an entire event, just reserve a private space with a TV and proximity to a bar where my friends can buy drinks.

Last weekend, I found out that my boyfriend's grandmother worked in my office building 57 or so years ago, for about six months, as a secretary for "the first sofa bed company in the United States." (It was their showroom.) Now, the Flatiron offices are entirely occupied by two companies, but then, it held many different small businesses. How can I find out where in the building her office was located? I'd love to take her there sometime so she can see it again.

I've been idly dreaming about building a small house someday, something along the lines of the
small houses (not the tiny ones) designed by Tumbleweed Tiny House Company. I'd like to know more about what this would entail in the area where I currently live.

I live at the top of Central Park in New York City (my park entrance is at 110th and Lenox), and I'm thinking of either getting a bike or rollerblades to commute to my job at 23rd and Fifth (or, perhaps more accurately, to my gym at 23rd and Park, where I can shower and change). What's the most direct path through the park from top to bottom, and which streets should I take to my destination once I exit the park?

For my job (and for fun) I often need good places to go out for drinks after work here in New York. Please recommend bars between 14th Street and Midtown that have good, inexpensive (~$10 or below) cocktails and are good for conversations with small groups of people.
