What are all the above ground NYC Subway Stations?

I need a list of all the NYC Subway stations that have above ground platforms. I've seen this map, and Wikipedia has this. But, ideally, I would like a table or list of the actual stations in text form. I found this fantastic NYC Transit Subway Entrance And Exit Dataset, but it doesn't list if the station is underground or not (not sure if I can infer from the data it does have?). Transportation nerds of MeFi, can you help me?

Looking for a subway map of NYC with neighborhood boundaries

I have been looking for a while for a particular kind of map of New york City for my office wall. Ideally it would show the neighborhood boundaries like this AND the subway lines like this. For various reasons I am not looking for an interactive or computer-based tool. I need a hard copy map (though I would be happy to print my own if there was a digital version I could license). Plenty of subway maps, and a few neighborhood maps, but I haven't been able to find them both on one map.

NYC subway trains stink, mold?

I feel sick every time I get on to nyc subway trains. The N train is constantly stinky like urine and mcdonalds and feet, that triggered my multiple chemical sensitivity badly. I noticed 7 train usually have very fresh air which does not trigger my symptoms, as well as #6 train. R train is much better than N train, and E train is much better than F train. I want to know what caused these nasty stinky trains? Are all odor caused by mold? Btw: I can't tolerate PATH smell as well. I'm so confused people in these trains seem do not feel anything. Any information or comment are welcome.

New York Subway Fiction Suggestions

LiteratureFilter: Yo metafilterland. I'm on a quest for two things: literary representations of the new york city subway, the more personal and sensorial the better, and literary representations of a new york city without subways, circa before 1904. Non-fiction and suggestions are welcome as well, as are examples that use less stringent definitions of "text" (film, song lyrics, dance etc).

what's between between?

Is there a default understanding the word "between," if the speaker/writer doesn't say whether he's being inclusive or exclusive? I suspect there isn't a RIGHT answer, but is there a common, colloquial understanding? [more inside]

What is the mysterious fourth rail for?

I'm relatively new to New York and ride the subway every day. When I'm on the above-ground lines I notice another "fourth" rail in between the two running rails that doesn't look like it is used, but is securely tied down. Sometimes there's even a fifth rail, also in the middle. Usually this rail doesn't run continuously and it occasionally curves or has other oddities. What is this fourth rail for? [more inside]

NYC subway station where Michael Jackson's "Bad" video was shot?

I just watched the Scorsese-directed, 17-minute video for Michael Jackson's Bad, released on 1987, and I'm trying to figure out which subway station it was shot in. Most stations looked different back then, of course - there's been a lot of fixing up and adding of art since then. It looks like maybe it could be the 2nd Ave F stop, but it could also be the Broadway/Roosevelt/74th St multi-train express stop in Jackson Heights, Queens. Or.... where? Does anyone know? I haven't been successful finding anything about it via web searching.

screechy subway sound what is it

What's that noise that NYC subway cars often make when pulling out of a station? It sounds like a metal-on-metal screech, but has a definite three-note tonal quality (A-G-B?) to it. It seems like some kind of white noise/noise-cancellation, but I'd love to know the skinny.
