Where to go for dinner next in NYC? I'm a lifelong New Yorker and love going out to eat. However, I feel like I'm in bit of a rut, mostly returning to neighborhood reliables and a handful of other favorite restaurants around the city. The wealth of information about NYC restaurants out there is pretty daunting, so I'm hoping for some direction from the hivemind. Some more details inside.

I am coordinating this month's meetup for a group of my friends. We're about twenty people, ranging from 15 years old to middle-aged, looking for a restaurant that would have room for us on a Saturday evening. Ideas?

NYC restaurant filter: Taking an elderly, out-of-town couple (that we don't know well) out to dinner. We'd like to take them somewhere reasonably nice (cost not a concern), but we do know that they prefer plainer foods that are easy on the digestive system. Manhattan required, midtown preferred. A little extra detail inside.

I currently live in NYC and am graduating from grad school here in about two and a half weeks. My family will be coming up for the ceremony, and I'm struggling to figure out a place for us all to eat dinner. Problem is, there will be 9 of us total, which eliminates a lot of places I like.

Two part question.
1. In '08 I ate at a restaurant in Manhattan, and I can't remember the name. It was on top of a building, there was a garden/atrium/bar outside the dining room. I remember seeing big king-like chars at each table. The menu listed a fantastic mac 'n cheese. Any ideas?
2. A friend told me about a great restaurant in Chinatown that has incredible steamed buns of all sorts. Does anyone know the name?

I have a 30th birthday coming up in NYC and I'm trying to think of some fun restaurants, places to go (i.e. bowling, paintball, karaoke), and or things to do.
I'd like for a group of us to be able to eat and do something (like bowl) at the same time then we'd all go out to a bar afterward.
Anyone have any fun restaurant or party place suggestions in NYC?
btw, not interested in bowling or karaoke suggestions

I go to NYC at least once a month, and I'm always on the hunt for good vegan restaurants, especially in the East Village area, although I'd love to hear about good eats in other areas of the city as well. I've been to Quintessence, Bonobos, and Caravan of Dreams, and I go gaga over LifeThyme, the grocery/bookstore/cafeteria on 7th Ave and 9th St - they have six inch high veggie pizza that's to die for. Are there any more yummy vegan places I need to know about, and if so, what's the most yummilicious thing on the menu?

I'm going to
Churrascaria Plataforma in NYC in a couple of weeks, an all-you-can-eat Brazilian restaurant that encourages gastronomic excess. What are strategies I can employ to help me consume more food than a person should reasonably eat in a single sitting? (Time isn't a factor, I don't think--it's a fixed-price menu, and I believe you can stay as long as you like.) And is there any Brazilian cuisine that I should try while I'm there?
